whats that saying? empty vessels.... no! its, Great minds think alike

the showgirls made up for it though did you talk to the 2 french birds at the renault stand by any chance?

go for a montero mate. its a much newer car and there's not much difference between the 2 when it comes to reliablity. plus you get fold flat 3rd row seating, a wacking big sun roof and tiptronic transmission (personally i'd go with a manual and you can easily lose the back end if you are feeling 8 years old ) fab car mate. one went rumbling past me this morning. and i thought it was muscle car where? where???

kyosho does make some quality models. their x3 is going quite cheap these days. and speaking of quality models i noticed the Q7 and the GL classe are pretty good as well. I'm waiting for their prices to come down a bit. The hardest model to find has been the 110 station wagon (dark red no roof rack). i was bidding for this along with my 110 double cab from the same dealer. but lost out by a tiny margin. i might add the original 166 hue land rover to complete my collection. but its been a dry spell for me for about a year now. i'll probably kick start the whole thing when i'm less busy with uni. right now i'm just trying to bring my two collections together

I'm with you mate! the parking brake on cefiros is a bitch to operate. firstly you gotta brake with left foot and unlike on a handbrake lever the release is located away from it on a rather obtuse location. so basically you need 2 limbs and a good bit of skill/luck to keep the vehicle under control.

happy birthday mate! have a good one

sorry to go all blonde. but i seriously don't understand this book nonsense. i mean for rare cars like this wouldnt it be easier if we just use the book from another rare car of that make. say, in this case a 200sx. its not like they can tell the difference can they?

i think he can get the 3rd gen model for that budget cos most of the prices are hovering around that bracket. my uncle bought a 4m40'd one on g plates which was imported brand new for 7.5 mil last year. a friend of mine sold his 4m41'd one (the one i'd recommend) which he imported used from japan for 8.5. the 3.5 v6 jap spec model is hovering around the 5 mil mark depending on the version and the vintage. its quite a gutsy car as well. will shame most of the saloon cars on sale today. it'll be hard to get rid of though.

lol now they are all in boxes cos its a proper task packing and unpacking them. i'll probably get an x5 a touargeg n xc90 and a few more and end it there. btw there's this model of an sl merc you might be interested in. unlike other die cast models this actually has a fully functional folding metal roof. also do u buy models on ebay? im just wondering if there are any problems getting them delivered to sl.

well he could probably by another car with the change if he goes for a classic rr. and since he's not bothered about fuel consumption of the petrol cherokee why not have the full v8 rr? i always prefered that over the gemini engine cos its a more fitting engine for a car of that stature sorry to go OT but how many L322s do we have in the country gummy? and what are the 2nd hand prices atm?
-
is it? lol im gutted. anyways thanks for the advice mate. here's a part of my collection from last year (before the rrs arrived)
-
good choice mate. but for best of both worlds i'd prefer a litchfield type 25 spec d

how much does the lr3 change hands at these days? thats a great family choice. probably the best 4x4 in the country (bar the L322 cos i doubt we have any with terrain response). a p38 would be nice. but its old and reliability is a major issue. forget touaregs. wut about the cayennes we had in sl? now thats uber-exclusive. same story with the x5, if you can find one. whatever you don't buy an ml and i still don't understand how the hrv made it into your list. if you want something sensible and less exclusive there's still the lc100. preferably a lexus lx470
-
you got a good deal then. the ones i was looking at last year were around 20k. my range rover is from ERTL. i bought it over the welly cos it had more realisitically sized tires. you are right about the maistos. i got an ml55 that's badly proportioned. and even the cayenne turbo (not a turbo s) is a bit wonky compared to the real car. i'm only genuinely pleased with the maisto h1. i got a couple of autoart pajeros (a lwb and an evo) those are real quality items. the carpets are real carpets and you can almost hear the doors go clunk when you shut them. i'm looking forward to buying a g55 from them. i'd recommend that model to you.
-
my advice would be to go for a 2.0 (AZ) manual. it provides almost hot hatch levels of performance with more or less the same fuel bills. but the 1.8 is luxury tax safe. so i guess the choice is yours.
-
where did the hrv come from? my advice would be buy a montero diesel. if you can find a 4m41 for that money its a bargain. and even a tropicalised 4m40 version wouldnt be bad either. the steerings a bit numb compared to a defender. but then again you wouldnt wanna have a defender for family use. unless you've carried out a lot of soundproofing and fitted a lot of goodies. cos if you are only used to conventional cars the defender will wear you out even on the shortest journey. the sensible choice would be to buy a montero cos they are somewhat underpriced compared to land cruisers of similar age. just dont buy the 3.0 v6. either go for a diesel or a 3.5. the grand cherokee is full of character (not being japaese). but the montero is the sensible option. it even has fold flat 3rd row seats.

Has Anyone Seen A Ghost When Driving?
JadeyBlitzen replied to Thanushka's topic in Feedback & Suggestions
as tharindu6 said its just your mind. and my mind doesnt tremble when i'm in a car cos i'm always feeling happy and secure my grandfather once told me that he had an encounter with a ghost sitting on the back of his 403 one night back in the 1950s. those were lonely times and i must confess he believed in supernatural stuff. not that i dont (i only admit that i dont) this is not related to driving but i worked in a cinema last year which was built on the site of community centre where a little kids jumped off the diving board and splattered all over the pool side. and his ghost was said to be still lurking inside the cinema. i thought it was just a hoax at first and one night i was walking throught the hallways behind the screens. and i heard child screaming and lots of people shouting continously. i thought it was coming from the pub next door. so i ignored it. but then i spoke to my superiors and found out the story was in fact true and those hallways that run behind the screens are in fact firewalled between the pub. and all the films had finished by then. and all the viewers have left. and there's no way there can be that many people or kids somewhere audible at 2 in the morning. so i guess thats my first and so far only encounter with the supernatural -
how much did u spend on the land cruiser mate? i remember it being very expensive. also which brand is the range rover? i got a few models as well. a few in sl and a few up here. all of them suvs. including the current land rover line up should bring them together this summer.
-
thanks mate! as for the reverse gear i had a neat solution for that. a starter motor with adjustable current flow low geared and lowered to the drive chain using a lockable lever. with a bit of fancy wiring and a few switches you can operate it using the throttle itself. if you can't be bothered there's always aftermarket units. or if you are fit enough there's the flinstones method. i spent many sleepless night figuring out various aspects of the project but i guess the e34 project is less demanding and maybe more rewarding. however i might still start the hayabusa project in the not so near future.
-
i'm hoping to buy a tired old 518 in sl and an m5 3.8 over here. strip them down. ship the parts to sl (thats the tricky bit) and finally build a complete m5 in sl probably with 518 badging i'll probably have to rebuild the engine. and getting down the parts is going to be a real headache. need to figure out a way to bring the car in 2 bits or something. which i believe only real spare part importers are allowed to do. will provide better weekend transportation than a hayabusa mini i suppose. anyways i have no intentions of starting this project until next summer.

Parak mate, I'm going to forget all the disagreements we had and tell you that your reasoning is quite right. but you've answered your own question with that post. how did we forget kids in this equation? we've all been there. and i don't know what you think but even we have similar commitments in sri lanka. would you ever think of asking your children to come home in a bus in these conditions we have here? i may not be a parent yet. but i've been through this. i wouldn't dream of sending my sister home on her own after school. and when i was a schoolboy i happened to know the misery of knowing my parents won't be picking me up after school and i'll have to take the bus. its unfair on their part and even more unfair on the bus operators part cos i really don't see why i should pay that whole 15 rupees when only my right foot and a few fingers are actually riding inside the bus. and lets not even start talking about the a/c... i'm telling you for the last time. your argument is quite reasonable. but its still not the right time to bring it out. our transport system still has a long way to go.
