Something from a cartoon? No its the first generation Honda Insight!

Interestingly, Peugeot 206 was never offically launched in india. Mahindra assembled some Peugeot cars but not the 206. Perhaps this ad was meant for some other audience. I would have actually thought Sampath was correct, if not for the Peugeot flash frame at the end, because when Indica was launched back in 2000 or so (when Sampath and I both were in India), Tata wanted to capitalize on the transformation of old boring car designs (Maruti 800, Ambassador, Premier Fiat etc.) to something more contemporary.

I wonder what the other hand was doing all the time?

maybe 6.5lakhs!

Is your car under warranty? If so, use what the agent recommends. They are not always right but you need to avoid things that may prevent them from honouring the warranty. Secondly, I see no reason why you should use oil with viscosity of 50. 40 is just fine for a car made just two years ago. In fact, if I were you, I would use Lanka OIl Monograde 40 leave it at that. Laugfs oil is a Chinese product blended in Singapore. Not much experience on that. But I used their Auto gear oil once, for an old car and it worked like any other oil. A*W is the agent for Castrol so naturally they would recommend it. I use Mobil or Castrol with my Ford Focus though.
-
First of all, what made u use 20W-50? Did the agent tell you to use it?

Go to Armour street/quarry road area. U might spot a few sherpas, a couple of Commers and even an old Morris Minor Taxi driven by an equally old fella. I doubt if he gets any passengers though. There's also a 11 Sri three wheeler (the oldest model which has the engine under the driver's seat) in Colpetty area. I guess that too is a classic in a way.

Odometers could be easily rolled back in Sri Lanka. So if this car had like 25000 on the odo, will u take it? Just get it inspected thoroughly instead of relying on the odo. BTW Gen2 has very low ground clearance. If you are planning to do what you mentioned on the Suzuki Jimny thread, then don't buy it.
-
Afaik, if the car is a brand new imported one, the odometer is in Miles not Kilometers. So 65k on the odometer is close to 110k in kilometers. (Proton odometers don't indicate the unit, so I had to cross check with Swedish to verify this) Ask the owner if the T-belt is changed or not. Ask for records. If its company maintained, take it to their workshop and ask the service advisor to give you a report. If the T-belt change is pending are you not going to buy the car? Its just going to cost you about Rs 20000 with the oil seals and adjuster (not from the agent). If you are expecting to buy any car and not do any maintenance on it, you are just a cheapskate. Go get yourself a Toyota.

I saw an ad (in H*tAd recently) for a whole bunch of classics (over a dozen) for sale by an individual. I really wanted to pay a visit there but ddecided against disturbing the guy cos I didn't have the means to buy any at the moment and my place terribly lacks parking space. Any news on that guys?
-
Hope the buyer gets rid of those stupid alloys, seats, wing mirrors and the hanging cooler
-
dude, I can think of at least three old, (fairly) large finance companies that hail from kandy
-
That's probably because 13 is a normal figure for your car. Now don't tell us your neighbour's wife's aunty's second cousin gets 15kmpl in his sprinter.

Repeat after me: VITARA = ESCUDO VITARA = ESCUDO VITARA = ESCUDO VITARA = ESCUDO VITARA = ESCUDO VITARA = ESCUDO 2-door, 4-door etc are just variants of it. BTW the Escudo you have posted in the forum is an early 90s (1991/92 maybe) model with an English number plate (2003 or 2004). You need to find out how it got one. Perhaps a one imported thru some kind of a permit.

isn't it illegal for cops also to cross the E01 like that?
-
Cali is up for sale. Any takers?
-
Good for you mate. I had the same terror in a Maruti Wagon R once. As a policy, I don't get in to Wagon Rs even as a passenger. I don't think Jimny is any better than that. As for OP, a Vitara is a much better option.

Hybrid And Zero-Emissions Vehicles Photos And News
Crosswind replied to Californikan's topic in General Automotive
Since when did people start measuring battery capacity in kilowatts??? kilowatt is a unit of the rate of energy transfer. If you had attended school, u would have learned this in science class and u would have had a better job than being the personal gal-kolla of the hybrid community. Now that it's too late to change that, if you are googling, at least learn to google properly. -
Would it be too difficult to source an original engine for it? AFAIK, the Impala was quite a popular car in India as well so chances are u might even find an engine over there...

1. Simple reason is the 2-door issue 2. That generation of Terios was manufactured till 2004 or 5 3. I disagree with that statement. Both should give similar figures. Anything above 9 is just a pipe dream 4. Disagree. A good friend of mine owned a Jimny. He had a hell of a time finding body parts. Engine parts shouldn't be a problem because its the Suzuki Swift engine anyway. There are more Terios in Sri Lanka than Jimny so I would actually expect more spares for Terios (toyota cami spares will also fit) On the other hand, neither Terios nor Jimny is stable at high speeds on flat roads. In fact, these two vehicles have very poor handling, owing to the high center of gravity.

Cool. I updated the original post too. What's your friend's car? Did everything work properly?
