@Kavvz sadly not Subaru's in the garage these days but hopefully something in the future ?

@matroska tbh, would you believe i forgot the Premio & Allion ?♂️ That's how little i think of them ?? Marketing fail on my part right there? I'm astounded by the space! Even with the drivers seat pushed all the way back there is still enough space for an adult to sit behind comfortably. The boot space is generous for something in that class Name recognition is an issue though - most people aren't familiar with the car So many of my friends have been completely stumped - so prospective buyers also often end up needing an introduction to the model Real shame given how impressive a car it is - yes it is Indian built but it is so refined to the point that most passengers can't even tell it's a diesel!
-
It was the duty @AVANTE - Suzuki upgraded the drive train to a 1.6L petrol & 1.5 diesel from the original 1.3 &1.25 which meant they ended up being priced over 7 Million There are more cars of the first few batches they imported running around very well - they don't often come up for sale as most tend to hang on to them for the simplicity & fuel economy alone. It's a car that has proven itself to be one of the top picks in that class in India so if it can survive there Sri Lanka should be cinch! lol It has been quite a revelation & quite a pleasant surprise tbh You're spot on about the ride being so supple! The mid range response is perfect when nipping around thanks to the turbo This particular specimen has done just 56,000 kms - had a full A*W inspection done & everything was copacetic. The only thing that specifically needed replacement was an O ring from the diesel filter which is a replacement part anyway when swapping out all the filters.

Don't forget the couple of CIMA's & FUGA's we have here @AVANTE with the 4.5L V8 as well I believe -
@DRH if it's a Euro car it's always nicer to buy them when they have a warranty & are less than 5 years old It's not that they're mechanically problematic as such specifically it's just that relative to your average japanese car in the same price or age range they can require a little more attention Things like Dual Clutch Gearboxes will be problematic in Sri Lanka regardless of whether Honda makes it or Volkswagen-Audi does The other trap to be wary of is first time Euro car owners who bought them because of the attractive price point thanks to the engine capacity advantage they hold over bigger Japanese cars which meant corners were cut when it came to maintenance as some were surprised to find the parts prices to be steeper than they would have expected etc or worse botched repairs by technicians untrained to handle these Euros All in all it can be a bit of a gamble so if you want to go down this road look for meticulous specialist or agent maintenance history. Leave a much bigger margin than you would with a Japanese car as a running repair budget & a greater allowance for depreciation as well.

A Nissan Cefiro/Teana? A Honda Accord Even the Koreans had some nice large sedans like the Optima (sharp looking car!)
-
@iRage A 1933 SS 1? Possibly reg: Z-2742 ?

@tilvin in case you're still looking for a garage try Ultimate Motorworks in Boralesgamuwa of which @VVTi is a co-owner. https://umw.lk/ 0112 057 700 — [email protected] They did some mechanical restoration work on an Austin Cambridge for mutual friend from Kandy!

Devinda_Z replied to Douglas Dragonfly's question in Car Buying Information
Ditto that @RWD if safety & performance as well as space are all criteria of note then my vote goes for the Forester as well Don't believe what those who've never owned a Subaru say about parts or maintenance costs - i think i've written about this at length somewhere or another on the forum! The SG series Foresters (2002-2007 post 2005 facelift) i've found to be a little more rugged than the SH (2008-2013) which sell from 4.5-6.5 Mn -
Congratulations @fiat fan Those are interesting things and have a massive following even now! Don't forget the odd International Harvester that comes up for sale now & again

Mr @Sylvi Wijesinghe, i have replied via email

There was a tasty NISMO version here in Sri Lanka ?
-
@SmartGuy the tread pattern also contributes immensely Is your jeep on All Terrain or Mud Terrain tires per chance?
-
?? No no i'm quite certain of the existence of a silver V6 Perdana here!

If Abans Automotive is anything like Abans appliance after sales (based on multiple personal experiences with JVC & LG products) i'd be VERY afraid Hyundai Lanka were part of Prestige who held the BMW Agency as well i believe. A little expensive but i don't think anyone ever had any major issues with the quality of work so i'd go with Hyundai Lanka who've been doing this for years now
-
Colour me skeptical but i for one am very uncomfortable with the thought that some company can offer a product which costs half the price of anything from a reputed manufacturer without cutting corners on quality as well as R&D Ultimately most cars have a contact patch about the size of an A4 sheet at each corner - that's all that keeps you on the road so whether you want to gamble buying some unknown brand because the masses who know very little about cars, in a broad sense, feel it's alright is a questionable measure. For the record, i'm not saying big brands make excellent tires all the time - the specific mode, compound, tread patterns and usage/fitness for purpose play a huge part in how a tire performs in a specific application. Leaving aside my personal bias, i'd urge you to check the reviews from actual users as well as the reviews from tire tests conducted by major automotive magazines to see how these tires hold up but i suspect that they're unheard of in more developed nations, so might not even make the tests. If you want to go with a budget tire @KasunU perhaps also consider something like Maaxxis or Nankang or even Federal maybe?

Um..... @Saga9 aren't those questions you should have asked, before you bought the car??? Anyway @Pericles owned one so i'm sure he can give you some input

Aqua 2012 vs Yaris 2007 vs Corolla 141 vs Honda fit GP1
Devinda_Z replied to shadowfax99's question in Car Buying Information
They will be but both models will be a little long in the tooth now so the 141 might be a wise choice -
@Yassus Senok's Subaru division based on Vincent Perera Mawatha in Grandpass handle VW repairs now (& have for the last year or slightly more) @AVANTE DriveOne is still kinda Senok-ish I believe ?
-
@Pericles wasn't that the one with a V6 or something??
