Small issue - we have given some leaflets and that has Thalawathugoda Junc as the meeting place - hence would be good if we meet there initially - then can take off from there ....... - This is the capital mall junc in thalawathugoda - any 1 can join us on the way as well - just call the 2 numbers so we can hook up
-
Looks like U’ve covered all…. Lets hope we can all meet up there on time – the less time we spend driving – the more time we have to dip in the river -Dominic – Skinny dipping is Out OK – we got kids coming :-D

I fully understand your point – just that I don't believe that the 323 & the Familia are from 2 different countries – The interior of the version I use (323) is identical to the Familia which came in the same era- just that mine has no airbags & the familia has airbags. Some familia's have brown/grey color interior but all else is the same as the 323. e.g check this car out - http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=13215 a Familia - identical to the 323 except for the airbags Just out of curiosity what does the country of origin say in a Rexton ? SL or some other country ?

Yes there are 4WD cars but very rear - Dominic has a blue hatch. You will also get 4 disk versions too VVTI versions are also available Check the bellow link for a detailed explanation of the post 1998 engine versions http://www.protege323.com/content/24_engines/index.php

Not to start a brand war But Yes if you try to compare it against a FB 15 maybe even a lancer for that matter
-
Ya in that sense - aren’t all cars have some bit & bob from somewhere - I was referring to the actual manufacturing - such as made in Japan
-
Hi Kumara A YES these Buggers have given you B/S 323/& Familia are both made in Japan – shall look at taking a pic of my car reg/plate There are re-cons which are 1.5cc and manual – Tough I do admit finding one is hard as I spent 2 ½ months looking for mine Yes there are loads of 1.3 CC but the best would be a 1.5
-
Mate Both Mazda Models are manufactured in Japan – Though the 323 is an export model and comes from Sing does not mean it’s made in Singapore. Agree the 1.6 CC has an excellent pulling power even with 4 average size adults – and yes good ground clearance needed in our lovly roads

Adding to Bugatti’s comments – there no difference in the quality of built between the Familia & 323 – just some options differ as mentioned – no airbags in the 323. I own a 323 with 1600cc and it’s a blast to drive – both models are made in Japan though the 323 comes recon from Sing. I have no experience in ever driving a Honda City but if it’s from Taiwan/ India I’m sure it can’t beat the Japanese quality.

Come on Are you trying to compare a Maruti with a Mitsubishi ? – get real Even if the car is over 2o years old – Mitsubishi’s are waaaay ahead of the Maruti crap
-
so I take it U'r in will that be 2 or 1 persons ? Ya will get a chance to meet you guys once again
-
My thoughts exactly – I’m no fan of KIA but I feel it’s a good machine compared to the shitty Indian junk we have as jeeps At least go for Caltex and see; if you can’t be bothered with brands such as those given by KIM

Very interesting post …… This is how I would look at it and interpret it …. The mileage on cars here in SL are a mystery – changing the figures is Childs play even with digital meters… Hence it does not matter if it’s a new car or a new car – basically if the car has had good maintenance records which can back the mileage on the car – then u know u have a genie thing. If there are no records and the mileage is low – and the car YOM is old – then 2+2 does not add up to 4

Ya we all could do with an outing – This idea has been going around in our head for some time – it’ll be fun and best families too can join in. Guys lets meet up for a drink-on-meeting during the week to plan out things - need to confirm a location for lunch – Plantations bungalow is a cool joint. Opened for all Mazda & ford owners – but we need to get confirmations on the numbers before hand so that we dont have any complications Shall call you guys next week and fix a date for the meet –drink up

No change in the build quality or comforts - few changes such as airbags , interior etc….the engines are the same. The 323 comes (there are exceptions ) with a 1.6 CC whilst Familiar is genrally 1.5CC. It’s also known as Protégé in the US and now that’s a good buy. They have 1.8 and 2L engines and the shells are better looking in my opinion. Yes you do get LX ES etc… but not seen many over here – the 323 is GLX (Singapore) Overall it’s a great car and quite good on petrol too the VVTI’s are even better on fuel I was told.

Car Pulling To The Left – Any Reasons Why ???

Thanks all for the feedback – sorry was not able to give an update sooner I took her to the garage (Yes Prami that’s the place ) and he’s baffled just as I am. He too has checked the camber, caster wheel alignment and balancing all seems to be fine. I generally take her for alignment to Car care – Col 6. and they have been very good so far. Shall check on the tie roads / and other stuff you guys have put down – It was also suggested that the coil spring on the right side could be a culprit - ???? Will keep u guys posted – first have to buy a set of new tires the last one had just done 10K and the middle was worn out on the right side – the left was in excellent condition Once again thanks a lot guys will update on the progress -
Or going down hill on neutral 70 % of your drive
-
Try High level road for Spoilers - should be around 5-8,000/- Vios comes with different version of spoilers hence u can fix anything. (That looks good naturally)
-
Should be possible – but don’t have a clue where u can get the same- U may need to remove the thingy and try US car parts or the usual places on High level. Good luck

Hi Guys, Got a problem with my ride it,s been there for some time but starting to irritate me Hope some one can shed some light an give me a solution PLEASE Basically she ( Mazda323) Pulls to the left in a great way - I;ve sone the alignment , balancing and all the Jazz - I put a new set of Roadstone and after 10,000km the left tyre has it,s "Kammbi " popping out towards the edge of the tyre else the thread is excellent Right side tyre is fine. Was thinking of replacing the Y type joint - swing arm - would that help fix the issue ? Any one else had the same issue ? Would really appreciate some advise - planning to take her to the garage on Tue.

Familia is the domestic /Japanese version whilst 323 is more European/Singapore market cars- the 323 has a better ground clearance but both have the same parts – does a decent figure on fuel & has good power – even the auto’s
-
Hi Sharky…….. No harsh feelings when I say this but your post seems a bit confusing Generally “feeling the power at your feet “would result in huge fuel bills – in almost any car brand IMHO I take it that u believe sedans e.g doc sunny, family cars boring and slow - hence u would like to go for something sporty – thus a CRX/Astina I’m sure there are loads of members who can prove you wrong – Ur welcome to go for a spin in a 323 – and I’m sure u;ll be able to feel the power at your foot J Take your time hunting for a good deal – but also remember that U can’t always have the cake & eat it at the same time – If your lucky u just might get a chance
-
looks like Charith 19 & Guru have summed up everything - :-D If your looking for a Astina – please do take care as there are several abused Asitna’s out there who have had donkeys as drivers ….. who basically have ruined a lovely car. Do a detailed inspection – cause it would help as u won’t be bitching about the car afterwards Good luck on your decision – both are good car - but for me Astina is the choice
