  1. iRage. This person not sold his vehicle yet, he had send a message through a broker and informed my neighbor that a good vehicle is for sale, wanted him to go with him to show the vehicle. The vehicle was brought to another house close to Colombo and my neighbor had gone there to see that. The vehicle is same vehicle with a Trade plate and given a trial, he requested the papers there it was proved same. He had scolded the broker and told him the story, came back home. It is not easy to sell a used vehicles today, because who have stocks had jack up the prices. No good used vehicles over 5 years are available. Almost 50% are badly used finance vehicles. 2. Members. My neighbor had sold his Land Rover Jeep bought new (not in very good running condition had done 160,000 Kilometers, engine was in good condition, not the others) few days back, for 4.1M which was used by him for 22 years bought new wanted to go for another small Gasoline vehicle because his wife wanted to use by herself, was looking for a smaller van. She was interested in a small Avery Van for under 3M. Her son and husband wanted me to go with them to see a good vehicle, then we came across a vehicle 25 Kilometers away from Colombo visited the place, and examined the van and had a trial run satisfied and requested his selling price. He informed us that there is an offer for 2.65M for the same, if he gets 2.7M he will agree to sell the vehicle. We promptly agreed for that, offered him an advance, he said it is not necessary. We will buy the van next day to take delivery. Last Monday we contacted him that we are coming with cash to buy the vehicle, he informed us that there is a offer for 2.75M if we give 2.8M he will give the vehicle. We said you should have informed us about that, if so we will look into another vehicle. My neighbor was in situation that he has no time to go in looking for vehicles cannot waste time, informed him OK we will come on Tuesday with cash 2.8m he agreed, next day morning we get a SMS message from him, that there is a another offer 2.85M, if we gives him only 2.9mM he will sell the vehicle. Decided not to buy, got another person to give a call to him in a few hours later. Requesting the selling price, he informed that person that there is an offer for 2.8M. If he gets w 2.9 M he will sell. What this person is trying is to find out the correct price that he will get and sell. I later contacted the Finance company, the absolute owner of that vehicle, they informed me the vehicle was seized a few months back, and was not in good running condition with a few dents on the body. Kilometers reading was 127000 on the meter. This person is an Ex officer in the forces and he buys vehicles regularly from them. Repaint, fix new Tyre's and do other necessary things to sell at the highest offer. When we saw the meter reading was 66800 Kilometers. This is real cheating of used vehicles to new buyers. 3. Members, I read many comments about engine heat. I like to write of the 1950/1960 era motor vehicle engines , which is not a comparison to efficiency of present day engines. During those days mountain climbing younger members may have read about at Kadugnava climb road side had many people to help motorists to cool the engines ready with water. At present there are only few chaps on that stretch. Cooling system of engines did not have pressurized system. Almost all engines had Copper large radiators, only few had other materials used. Later came with Aluminum radiators with heat resistant Plastic tanks. I do not know the younger generation of motorists have read that there was a person by the name "Fan Bass" existed at that time. He did a modification to the cooling fan, and overcame the boiling problem. If I remember his name was Mr. M.S.Perera in Colombo 02. Adding two more blades, later he went on to six blades on the fan in all total. There were few problems like Engine power was loss and the drivers had to come down to next lover gear to do a smooth climbing. Six Cylinder engines did not have any problems also Four cylinder 1600 CC and above was also worked well. One other person had his UK made car lager Radiator and two more tanks with water extra fixed to his radiator, on to the engine bay. that was also very effective with no engine power loss. The cost was more than fixing additional blades to radiator fan and power loss for small engines. I like to have comments of my post. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  4. Mr. Kusumsiri, Thank you for your invitation I will visit as early as possible. I will not spend much time with you as I want to visit Sevanagala sugar factory to recollect my memories. I did most of factory rectification on their Electrical wiring system. Due to our contractor very old company, who undertook to do entire job did not complete same satisfactory. Indian principal contractor Cromton Greeves wanted me to complete mill house final sugar manufacturing section and Distillery. Sylvi.
  5. YOU CAN USE SAME NEW OIL MIXED TO NEW OIL CAN. I HAD ALWAYS DO THIS ON VEHICLE ENGINES FOR LAST 50 YEARS OR MORE.
  6. Zinger, First of all check with the importer of 3M tint from the agent I remember they are in Darmapala Mawatha. Get from the agents who do the 3M tinting. and their specifications what they import. They have a large selection. To my knowledge 3M tint is the best I have had for many years, there was not a scratch after cleaning the water. M/s, "Kleen Park" to my knowledge first stared this then later many others followed same. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  7. Members, I live in Colombo 03. There was a leading Finance company next to my home for many years, at present they are not in business, although they were one of the oldest company. I had met almost all people who do the seizing. Some are not very honest they never return the car next day to the company they remove what ever removable mostly all tires in very quick time. Mostly they tow the car to the finance company yard. When new buyer buys he signs papers the car as it is condition. So after you cannot claim any thing from the finance company. Above what I said happens to mostly to older vehicles, You are buying a vehicle unknown without any guarantee, therefore be prepared to put it to your required stranded with whatever costs comes later. If the vehicle is few years old and it is a daily runner, first of all try to find who is the previous owner get some information of him, try to find a close associate of him then you will know the condition before. IF the owner is a honorable person , vehicle had been seized due to some difficulty of his financial status, he had been using to the last day then vehicle will be a good selection. You may get small financial beneficent still the previous owner will curse to the financial company. I had a friend who used to go to all Bank auctions and bought pawned Gold Jewellery. He later had a miserable life. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.

  13. Member HaeylM, who posted above for my vehicle performance I thank him giving all facts of the two vehicles comparison. I wrote above purely to give some information of my vehicle never compared the engine capacity of Every and the said vehicle. If I were to compare will write to a Avery forum page. Members, my explanation about my post is not to compare two cars, It is only to mention about Avery fuel consumption. Of two drivers and driving patterns, and times what I get for a Liter of petrol. My post is only to explain my vehicle performance hope above is clear to any member who reads my post. Above is my observations about fuel consumption not the quality of fuel. I regularly at 10000 Kilometers change fuel filter, never had any unwanted particles when I observed used filters. Unfortunately I had discarded same if not I can give Pics of same. Opinions can differ to any reply. I appreciate the reply post of mine, by member HaeylM with his explanation. Thank you member HaeylM for same. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  14. Mr. Kusumsiri, I do not loginto A/L much, that is the reason for delay in reply if any questions better you send me a Email <[email protected]> with a SMS to my phone 0112573690 so that I will attend promptly. Where do you live so that I can come and have a look at your wiring the dynamo how you had connected the regulator. What is the (SWG) gauge of wire you used for the Aramature winding?. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  15. All three above posted members, I use a Suzuki Avery van imported with 0 Mileage by me. done 20000 Kilometers 3 Cylinder vehicle, mostly in Colombo traffic and do about (5) five trips to Ja Ela for a week. In Colombo traffic I do not get any thing more than 9 to 10 Km/Lit. Hi way to Ja Ela and Colombo mixed Kilometers I get average of 12 to 13.8 Km/Lit. Allways A/c on. My way of refueling is every day when ever I use the vehicle, I top up the tank. Fuel tank will never fall less than 3/4, I do not drive I have two drivers who are very experienced, one is 60+ age other chap is about 35+. Only old driver will get about 1 Km /Lit, more than the other driver. Never allows the Petrol tank to be less tan 3/4. What I think is the driving pattern and the traffic, the time you drive morning time specially 7.30 AM TO 9.15 AM, Evening time 4.30 TO 6.30 PM will definitely not get good fuel readings. If regular services are done, better get a scan done on the engine, to get rid of all droughts. Sylvester Wijesinghe. Sylvi.
  16. Mr. Kusumsiri, How far you have advanced on your project? Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  17. Members, I have done this coating long time ago, it is a thin coating of a paint only lasts for two to three months, Still on heavy rain any vehicle have to use wipers to get a better vision for driving. Advertisers who do this in Sri Lanka are giving all false benefits that the driver will have to make quick money. My advice is to get a polish with a machine with correct polish, instead of applying all types of coatings. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  18. PreseaLover, Can you explain what is "Jeewana Suwada" or "Suvanda". I can think only our counter parts smell or any thing else. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  19. Member, Try M/s. Pet#o lanka at kollupitiya near Bauddaloka junction drive towords Kollupitiya on your right hand side after Temple road. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  20. Member, Do not blame Dynamos, they did very good efficient service before Alternator's was interduce in year 1960. From the time first Vehicles were manufactured in early 1900. All Military armored vehicles during 1st WW and 2WW had large Dynamos instead of Alternators. I have had the experience of repairing them in very early days of my life. This problem is not on the dynamos the vehicle engines were not up to the slandered, Batteries were used more than their life time, due to wiring faults mostly bad earthing which I have come across in 70% of vehicles more than 10 years old, specially after tinkering work completed earth wires not connected correctly. Sylvi.
  21. Mr, Kusumsiri. I read comments a bout Dynamo not giving enough Amperes to keep the Battery in full charge when the Engine is cold start. That has many reasons if I consider on Electrical system of the dynamo era before year 1970. can explain in detail, I do not want to write of those problems. I WILL EXPLAIN SHORT, THE BATTERY WILL HAVE TO BE AT LEASET 80% GOOD DYNAMO SHOULD GENERATE ENOUGH AMPEERS TO COMPANSATE BATTERY LOSS DUE TO SELF START MOTOR OPERATION DRAIN IN FEW MINUITS AFTER THE COLD START. WHEN THE ENGINE IN OPERATION. BATTERY EARTH TO ENGINE WILL HAVE TO BE CONNECTED CORRECTLY. Above are the few problems which I have noticed in pre Alternator era of Dynamo days. My observations about Alternators, they are efficient than Dynamos, they fill up the battery in double quick time due to high amperage they generate on low RPM. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  22. Can you explain the three wire Alternator how the wire ends are connected. IT IS CORRECT CHANGING THE WIRES TO NEGATIVE EARTH. If possible try to change to a original Lucas Dynamo, because the Morris cars had originally dynamos. Pre era Alternator days the car was manufactured. You will be able to get a complete Dynamo for about Rupees 1000/= to 1500/=. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
  23. Mr, Kusumsiri looks like you have completed the winding of the Armature correctly, like a professional Armature winder of Armatures, how is the speed when the wiper blades are on the glass. Always try with water do not operate dry, that can scrape the glass if any invisible dust is on the glass surface. I can notice the Armature drive end of the Armature is little wasted. Check the bush on the wiper housing. Bush is not a brass bush it is a oil impregnated self oiling bush. Finished product is very good. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.
