  1. Agree with Kavvz. I think you have made all the right moves so far - replacing the rim and correcting alignment, so you're all good. These things happen. Welcome to the forum!
  2. Try the microfiber noodle type wash mitt once and you will never use your hands again.
  3. PreseaLover, you don't need Daniel Stern or Buddha or anyone to understand that using a "super bright" bulb to counter the lost brightness can end up melting the headlamp housing which is of plastic construction, do you? It's true that you shouldn't believe things based on hearsay. But do you have to insist on someone's experience to believe that it's not a good idea to drive your car off a cliff? Common sense PreseaLover... Common sense. Now I think we should leave this thread to talk about windscreen tint.
  4. You should probably try a different AC workshop because it looks like your current place is applying patches as an when new leaks show up. When addressing a recurring leak like this, the right thing to do is replace the evaporator like others have already said. Further, if one joint starts leaking, it would be good if all joints are repaired with new o-rings. One of my previous cars had a recurring leak on the same place and it would just keep leaking despite repairing it and even changing the aluminium tube. I later discovered that the reason for the leak is a bad engine mount that causes the tube to be shaken rapidly at times, causing the joint to give way. Replaced the mount and no more leaks after that.
  5. After reading a bit on dashboardcamerareviews.com, I got two mini 0806 dash cams. One for the RalliArt, the other for the Demio. The main requirement for me was having dashcams that wern't too bulky. The last thing I wanted was having a bit of bulky tech hanging from the middle of my windscreen. Of course I wanted the obvious factors like full HD recording and stuff, and everything I wanted was in the mini 0806. Read more and watch sample videos here: http://dashboardcamerareviews.com/mini-0806/ Official site: http://mini0806.com/ According to the site, it's on the top set of cams for 2016. I got mine from gearbest.com because the price was low (they had a promotion or something) and the kit they offered had all the equipment I needed. If you're buying this, get the one with GPS and the polarisation lens. Read in some forums that initial versions of the 0806 had trouble locking the GPS signal and had trouble with certain SanDisk MicroSD cards, but the ones I got were fine. The first thing I did after unboxing was update the firmware to the latest version. I've been using one of them for about a week now and I'm happy with the video quality and how quickly the camera responds when the car is turned on. I have installed mine just near the centre rear view mirror and since the device is so small, you don't even notice it's there.
  6. If it's only the backlight of the trip meter/odo LCD, then the bulb behind it is probably blown. Should be an easy fix.
  7. They look brand new! I wanted the exact same wheels when I had mine. So glad you got hold of them. Waiting until the CS1 gets these new shoes.
  8. Please use this thread for your questions to keep this thread on topic. Thanks!

    Alloy Wheels

Depending on the vehicle, you might have to use hub-centric or lug-centric alloys as well. Read more here: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15506-my-nightmare-experience-after-fitting-new-alloy-wheels-in-sri-lanka/
  10. Please search the forum: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/12332-paint-less-dent-repair/ http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14924-paintless-dent-repair/ http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14706-quick-dent-fixing/ Apart from DIY, you can try the "hair-dryer method", but not all dents pop out this way. Or you can search for a DIY dent repair kit on eBay. Alternatively, you can take your car to a garage that does paintless dent repair. Should be quick and inexpensive.
  11. The "other part" would have been the tensioner. For components like the timing belt (even the tensioner), it is better to go for genuine parts although SUN is a Japanese brand and has proven not to be inferior. Just my opinion, but I think most Mitsubishi owners (and others too) will agree. So I suggest you do a visual inspection of the belt every now an then. The 4G18 is an interference engine (valves and pistons share the same space at different time intervals), so if the belt snaps or skips a tooth, you'll be looking at an expensive repair.
  12. Agree with others about the Maruti 800 not even needing power steering. I have driven many Maruti 800s and the steering was pretty light compared to older cars without power assistance. Before thinking of a conversion, I think you should get your steering system checked and lubricated properly. The steering box (if any) and linkages need to be greased and properly maintained if you want the steering to remain light. If you really want to convert the system to power steering, I think EPS would be the way to go as you have correctly mentioned, because a hydraulic system would be a pretty big job that requires modification of your entire front suspension, your engine would need a power steering pump (mounts might need to be fabricated and your drive belt will need to be changed), and a power steering oil reservoir that is hooked up to the pump and rack. So you might want to check the compatibility of other Maruti/Suzuki EPS systems with yours. If you find a good system, it would be as simple as swapping the steering column and wiring up the motor. Some after-market universal EPS systems allow you to mount the motor assembly in the engine compartment which will allow you to keep the steering column intact. So it's all about finding the compatible EPS system. In any case, I think you will be spending big bucks for the conversion, compared to the value of the car, and it might not be worth the effort.
  13. The noise is most probably corroded metal parts moving about inside the muffler or catalytic converter. The part would have to be replaced. For places, check this thread and search the forum: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13392-exhaust-leak/
  14. Last time I checked there were only 2 emission testing companies in the country: Laugfs Eco Sri and Drive Green. Drive Green locations: http://www.drivegreen.lk/stations.php Laugfs Eco Sri locations: http://www.ecosri.lk/locations I have been to both and think they are both okay - at least the locations I have been to. However, I'd advise going to a station where there are two separate lanes for petrol and diesel. Some Laugfs stations are ones made out of a shipping container and the centre is so small you cant even move the vehicle inside the premises.
  15. Finally! I know how much you wanted to get this done, and I think she's sitting really well now. I'm I right to assume the coilovers are full length adjustable ones? Oh and +1 for OZ F1 rims! Too bad the PCD was off, that would have been perfect!

    Nissan Leaf

"Hello, is your charging station available from 6 to 8pm?.... Great! That's 1 Nissan Leaf on the charger, 2 plain teas and 1 plate of whatever you are having for dinner. Thanks!"

    Nissan Leaf

Correct. You will be asked to pay for it of course. I'm not sure how consistent the prices are though. You can basically call the resident in advance and check availability/price if you feel like the car will run out of juice before it reaches the destination, and if no public stations are within range.

Great to see so many charging stations across the country already. And the community effort displaying residential stations should be commended.
  19. As Rumesh said above, the oil filter is not serviceable. It should be replaced during every oil change. And what do you mean by adding "extra" engine oil? The amount of oil that should be in the engine has a minimum and maximum level. Adding "extra" can be as bad as running with low oil. Your mechanic doesn't seem to be addressing the actual issue here. As others have advised, I too think you should get a tune-up done and clean the fuel system since you don't know when the last one was done.

  21. Actually, all Mazda 2s of this model in Australia are DE5FS. I don't think the DE3FS was imported here. So as iRage said, I was referring to the fact that it's a 3 door. Yes, you're right. Thanks for that bit of info. I think even the 3 door model goes as DE, because I find all 3 door Mazda 2s in the DE category when I do a search in carsales.com.au. There's DE series 1 and 2 which separates the pre-facelift from the facelift.

  23. First time I heard of a replacement being recommended for such a new (and low mileage) car. The usual timing belt replacement interval is 100,000km and I doubt it's any different for an Alto. Was it the agent who recommended this? Is it possible that they meant DRIVE belt?
