I have removed the door panels on my lancer a number of times, I did not remove the battery. As Watchman said, usually there are 2 screws to hold the panel to the door and the rest are clips. As per my experience, after removing the two screws, you need to pop the clips at the bottom of the panel first and then work your way to the sides, then lift the panel upwards so that it gets released. And when fixing it back, make sure the top part of the panel is secured first before popping the clips back on at the bottom. Just go ahead and try it yourself, even if you break a clip or two, you can easily replace them.(FYI : I get my replacement clips from Li*k Enterprises - Jubilee post they have an array of clips that you can choose from) Good luck.

why not check the condition of the brake pistons ? There could be rust and that could cause the piston not to work properly. I recently had an issue with one piston due to rust and replaced it along with a caliper repait kit to fix the issue.
