Again I'm confused.???.Usually I do less than 1000km per month and 90% are based on outstation, outstation means places like Jaffna,Matara,Anuradhapura etc..So lancer has better economy, suspension and as a minus point an unrefined ride.I dunno.I'm gonna find and test them both in order to make a better decision.
-
Thanks bro. This type of answer is what I expected. So it seems like the EX ticks all the boxes. So does the lancer soaks up the bumps and handles the pot holes pretty well??one of my friend called and told me that another friend of him got an EX recently.I will go and drive it and share my opinion asap. The problem I dumped mazda is the lack of leg space and ground clearance.Anyway a I love the BL one,but its extremely rare.

I read the bratt thread.thanks for the other ones.

Hello guys, Yeah I have been planning to buy a car for about 3 years, but gave first place to family expenses and higher education. Finally I decided to move on during the next few months to a new ride.My good old 121 is still serving me without letting me down but I think I had her enough(5+ yrs). Finally I narrowed down my search list to these two babes, the Ex and Fd4 as both of them are in the reachable price bracket.Previously had the idea for a 3rd gen prius but it is useless as I only do less than 1000kms per month. So my requirements are these. 1.Should be comfortable on long journeys.I might have to travel to places like Jaffna and Matara once or twice in a month. 2.Stability in speeds over 100 as I had to maintain such a speed speacially when travelling to jaffna. 3.Interior space both front and rear. 4.Fuel economy is not a main priority.I have an extreme light foot most of the times??.But if someone can give exact fuel figures I would be glad. 5.Should have a bit of soul in it???.A bit of handling and oomph Yet to drive both of them as they are very rare in our area. The problems that I have are 1.Does the Ex feels underpowered due to its 1500cc engine and 1200+kg weight? Also the 1600cc variant is rare and exceeds my budget. 2.I've heard the Fd series is not comfortable on long journeys and has stiffer suspension. Is it true?If someone who had driven both the fd4 and 121 can give me an advice that would be much valuable. I dumped the Axio because everyone has it and handles worse than the 121.Allion and Premio, again overpriced and common. But I would love to own a 240 series Allion on a Premio with 1800cc,but rarity and 100k+ kms milege keeps myself away. So i hope you guys will help me to make a good decision. Also any other choices are welcome. Thanks

Thanks.I'll give a little try.

Hello guys, I got footwell illumination system for both front passengers in my corolla 121.The bulbs in this system were halogen bulbs which gave a nice glow synced with the interior dome light. When I unlock the doors, the lights used to come up together with the keyfob light eventhough the dome light was turned off.Recently I changed the footwell lights to leds at my car audio guy's place and due to the design of the bulb holders the led bulbs short circuited. It blew up a transistor in the small circuit which was dedicated to the footwell lamps. This happened to me previously and replacing the transistor solved the case and had to install the halogen bulbs instead of the leds to keep things working. And again this happened....That day I visited all the electronic parts shops in my area, but couldn't find that certain transistor which died. After that the car audio guy gave a try to make the footwell lights work without the circuit (he said that 'fading away' effect will not happen when the lights are used without the circuit). Finally he totally destroyed the whole thing!!!!previously with the footwell lights gone, dome light and the keyfob light used to work fine without any issue. This time neither the dome nor the keyfob light works!!!He tried to find the cause but he couldn't!!According to him the earth line stopped functioning. Then I took the car to a well know place in our area and they took the earth line from the dome light and connected it to the footwell lamps without the circuit. Now the footwell lamps and dome lights work. But, -The keyfod light doesn't work -previously when i unlock the door, all the lights dome, keyfob and footwell, light up for about 10seconds and then fades away(This happened even without the footwell lights burnt, in the previous times)But now nothing happens rather than blinking the signal lights. -previously when i got into the car and closed the door, all the three lights stays on for about 10seconds and fades away, when the Key is not in the keyhole or when the key is in 'OFF' or 'ACC' positions. The lights go off suddenly only when the key is in the ON position.(The whole light system works just like every othercar)Now nothing happens. The dome light and footwell light show up only when i open the door and goes off when i close the door without fading. What can i do now?I'm extremely upset about the status.....please suggest me what to do.

Both would be more or less the same in comfort side.Aqua will do better on fuel.Honda will give you a better driving experience.Aqua will give you less problems. If I only got these two cars to choose,I would go for the Aqua.I would rather stay away from any Dual Clutch equipped car.Toyota has a much more simple and efficient hybrid system which would be easy to maintain.I have to agree that Fit looks better, both interior and exterior. Also the fit carries lots of bells and whistles.I would not advice you getting a hybrid unless you do atleast 1500km per month or most of your driving is based on city traffic.
-
Both would be almost equally economical, but the gp1 drives and handles better. In long term usage Vitz would give you less trouble and less maintainence.
-
Both Mazda 2 and Axio would serve you without an issue if you maintain them properly. While the Mazda 2 will give you more driving feel, attraction and more bells and whistles,Axio would give you better comfort, better interior and luggage space and a relaxing drive. If you live outside colombo maintaining a Toyota would be easy. Also both cars would be equally economical. It's upto you to decide.Best thing is to drive both.Maybe you prefer the sporty driving of the Mazda 2 or maybe the boring and relaxing drive of the Axio.
-
Then look for a Toyota.A non-hybrid Axio 2017 might be the best bet.Better car for day-to-day travelling with comfort and economy. Also the handling is better than the 141 Axio.I have once driven one,a 2013 one which shares the same 1500cc engine with the 121,Axio 141,Allion,Premio,so it's not bad on acceleration. But the newer, after 2015 non-hybrid version gets the 2NR-FKE engine with same horsepower but less torque along with a more advanced valve timing mechanism. So powerwise the car might be more or less the same. This new engine is less popular in Sri Lanka due to the high demand for the hybrid version. Therefore finding parts for the engine might be a bit of a problem, but not a big problem. It's upto you to decide.

Yeah,I too agree with you. When the owner went abroad for a schol for 3 months,he gave it to one of his friend to do the selling, who is a real "loke kala wathura beepu dial".He also brings down cars from japan. He sold the car.Problem solved.
-
He is an engineer in slt.He bought the car and rented it to slt.He used it as his company vehicle. He drove the car himself. Also the car was well maintained.
-
I have only driven the GP1 so far.Car is good and I think Insight might be the best bet.I know a guy who bought an Insight on 2011 and sold in 2016 for the same price, even after doing nearly 150000km.When he imported that car, the odo had only 16000km.He did not have any issues. If u prefer to use the car heavily, hybrid might be the best option.

My New Ride : Mistubishi Lancer CS1 GLX (A/T) YOM 2007
alpha17 replied to Sampath Gunasekera's topic in General Automotive
Today I had a ride in one of my friends Lancer CS1.1.3 manual.Have to say,the ride is so far one of the best japs I've been.Comfortable than a premio.Guaranteed.The car that I had a ride is an army owned one, done over 200k kms, even rusted but the ride is so soft.Less body roll.Is on CE#T tires. -
Better to stay away from Honda Dual Clutch systems which are far more complex which tends to give you problems in sri lankan climate.I think what iRage said is the best to do at the moment.
-
Have driven both.Have been a passenger in both. Not much of a difference in comfort, but Aqua is better.Aqua is smooth and a bit more powerful.Fuel economy goes to Aqua.Options, interior, looks goes to Fit.
-
You can find a well maintained Fit Area. But most of the Vios'es around here are abused.Vios is from thailand and Fit aria is from japan.Fit aria is famous for its Cvt gearbox issues, while Vios has a conventional Auto which is proven to be solid. Also the engine in Vios is the same thing you find in 121,Allion and Premio 240 and 260,Axio so maintainence might not be a problem. One of my father's friend has a Fit Area which has been using for about 6-7 years without an issue under extremely light usage as a second car. Both are good on fuel.Vios might be good at acceleration while Honda might provide you with better comfort.Vios has a bit hard ride.

Why those Alto drivers think they got Ferraris??????Every day at least one or two get smoked trying to overtake me by honking as fools???

Our next door swift(jeep model) also failed the eco test due to a faulty oxygen sensor. The oxygen senson was replaced previously by a place in Maspotha(near Kurunegala) where they totally destroyed the treads of the sensor due to careless work. The sensor was replaced by welding a nut over the slot and inserting a new sensor through the nut???.After few days the check engine bulb lit up.But the owner did not care for it about an year. After failing the eco test a few days ago,he went to A**o W*rld Kurunegala. They had said after scaning that there are many faults. So they had cleaned the throttle and plugs.Again the car failed the eco test. Finally the owner had to take it to a local makabas. He replaced the sensor and the car passed the test. What's funny is that the faulty sensor was a Toyota???.

Congratz on your new ride bro!!! Thecar seems very well maintained and taken care of.I don't know but one of my friends said that Lancer CS is more comfier than Axio and also his previous Cefiro.I'm yet to drive or be a passenger in a CS. -
You know that Sri Lankans are pretty good at converting grades.F to G Superior,Normal to Gold Badge,TRJ 150 to KDJ 150,and now G to WXB ????
-
When I went to Toyota L**ka kurunegala for the tune, I saw an Axio WXB Fielder hybrid. It was parked next mine. The best looking wagon i've ever seen.Rear lights look like a 5 series. It was simply awesome looking.(this is the trd version, but the one i saw looked exactly the same)
-
I also agree with you.For everyday usage,Axio will be the best bet.I got the chance to drive Axio 161 non-hybrid version 1500cc,and IMO so far the best in its category for ordinary usage.Good comfort, nice interior(cloth trim on the doors opposed to synthetic leather on the axio) and of course power.Handling is also better than the Axio 141 with less body roll.Steering has better feel than the hybrid version and turning of the traction control makes it a bit sharper. Also one can be found around 5mil.I wouldn't regret if I could get hands on one
-
I agree with you.Honda has a much more complicated hybrid system compared to toyota's hybrid synergy drive.Toyota's feel smooth and refined.
