Yes, Humidity is very important for air coolers. I was in Delhi ,India for 3 years. I always used an air cooler , which is typical to Indians and much cheaper than A/C. Delhi was much hot (sometimes 46 Centigrades) in summer and humidity is very low. So cooler works very fine and much cheaper than A/C. (Mine was Indian Rupees 1500/= in 1998 ) Believe me, sometimes I had to add more than 25 litres of water per day to cooler , due to high evaporation rate in the summer. Technique is very simple. Cooler fix out side of the room and connect to window open of the room. Fill the lower area of the cooler by water. Small electric pump pumps the water to the top and circulate and wet the straw mats on side and rear panels. The electrical fan rotates and suck air through the wet straw mats and blow in to room. It makes the room cool. (Like Maruti, technique is simple , works fine, but finishing is poor. ) But in Sri Lanka humidity is very high and I don't think this technique works here.

(Decided) What To Buy - Opinions Appreciated
Sampath Gunasekera replied to Supra_Natural's question in Car Buying Information
Congrats Mate !!! More pics pls.... -
One of my friend has similar Japanese Yaris 2008 done less than 10,000km. Absolutely in showroom condition. When I sold my previous Japanese Alto which purchased from the agent in brand new in 1999, after 12 years it had done only 49,000km as she was not a daily runner. We had all maintain records from very first day (even had car purchased invoice from agent Browns) and handed over to new owner. Otherwise I could be blamed as "meter karakäwala". When I go for services, service station people always observe the odo meter & ask "metere kedilada, sir?". Even it was a low mileage car, after 9-10 years I had to replace some rubber parts like brake washers in master pump due to natural decay of rubber parts over the time.

Bro isam, Posted 19 March 2015 - 02:14 PM Posted 19 March 2015 - 02:20 PM Within 6 minutes you have posted 11 posts which each post consist only 1 photo. You can include 10 photos in to one post and if so, much easier to enjoy them. Just a friendly suggestion only.

Sri Lanka's illustrious architect Geoffrey Bawa in his 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 Adenauer limousine at 1992 Mercedes-Benz Club Pageant held at BMICH as reported in The Evening Observer of 02 June 1992. The Mercedes-Benz Type 300 (chassis codes W186, W188, and W189) were Mercedes’ largest and most-prestigious models throughout most of the 1950s. These large saloons and cabriolets incorporated many luxury features. Options such as a glass partition, VHF mobile telephone, and dictation machine were geared to the businessman and politician. These models were often referred to as Adenauers after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany who employed six custom convertible, hardtop, and landaulet versions during his tenure. The exquisite two-door 300s (chassis code 188) and its successor 300Sc were the pinnacles of the Mercedes line of their era. Only 591 cabriolets were produced through September, 1955, out of which late Mr. Bawa’s is considered the only one in South Asia or Asia at large. (Photo Credits - Nishantha Sumanadasa)

Welcome to the forum !!! List your plans/budget for next five years. (You may have near future projects like land purchase, house constructions, babies etc.) If you have a big/costly project like land purchase, house construction, go for a well maintained Maruti 800 about Rs.700,000 or with Maruti Alto little over that. Don't spend much on "Yakada Godawal". If you don't have such big projects, then you can go for a better car. You are the one who can deiced this. This is my two cents.

I am not a Vezel Fan. But without knowing how the accident happened, blaming Vezel is not a correct thing, in my point of view. Best example is, in 1993, Singer Aathma Liyanage was met with an accident (in Kalutara North) very close to my residence. His Toyota Townace van collide with a new Isuzu ELF lorry. Townace Van face was damaged (not very heavy damage) at steering column area. I was surprised to see that ElF lorry was on the road without both front wheels . Might be the angle of collision was the reason.

Thanks for posting this. Much appreciate if you can repost it in Jaliya's vintage corolla thread. It is the deserved place for this advertisement. By the way I haven't much seen model shown with seadan face here.

I am not sure on particular part you are referring, but Tech Motors at Panchikawatta does Dihatsu parts. If I am not mistaken this is the original Japan version of Perodua Kelisa. You may try with Unit#d Mot#rs - Orgodawatta. Some Daihatsu parts are not so costly at Unit#d Mot#rs and I have seen some Dihatsu owners buy Dihatsu part from Unit#d Mot#rs. Please double check the correct part number and get confirm before buying even if the price is OK.

Most of the points are already described here by Don and others. (1) Take your time and read owner's manual. If gives you a lot of valuable information and instructions. (2) Be aware on your warranty clauses. (3) At your 5000km service, push Unimo people to remove your wheels from the vehicle & clean wheels, wheel arch and surrounding area. One idiot supervisor was telling me on our second Elite, remove wheels and clean wheels & surrounding area at 10,000km is enough and accepted and no need to do it in 5000km. I pushed them and got it done at 5000km. (4) Also visit thread http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13336-viva-elite-community/ Good-luck !!!

Thanks. So your warranty is already expired. I forgot to mention, try with Teck Motor Supply (Pvt) Ltd (2430837, 2441419) as wellThey also do Dihatsu/Perodua spares. These are the three places known to me for Perodua spares other than agent..

May I know your mileage and the month & year you purchased the car? Did you check the parts with Janatha Motors, Panchikawatta( 071-3190234) or with Thai Motors (077-7919777)?

As I heard it came with 2 speed automatic box. But you can see in 4th photo, how user has used his both legs to drive the car. http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/indian-auto-sector/2926-maruti-800-t-india-s-first-most-affordable-automatic-car.html Not only Maruti 800, but also 1st generation of Maruti Zen provided with A/T. Few cars are available in Sri Lanka as well.(I have seen in classifieds) .

Fuel Consumption Getting Worse
Sampath Gunasekera replied to chamatharavinda's topic in General Automotive
We have an Axio G grade (2010) and practically checked the fuel economy twice on long trips and achieved 20 - 21 km/l (physical calculation with two consecutive full tank pumping.) But within city limits 13km/l is normal. -

A Viva Elite belong to one of my friends, met with an accident and even had to replace a small piece of chassis and repaired at United Morotors, Orugodawatta. They did a superb job and aligned the body according to manufacturers specs and paint job also was superb. I couldn't find even a single fault. Superb job, I must say. But I am not sure performance of Kandy Branch. (This happened in late 2011)
