Un*ted M0T0Rs Body Painting

Guys,

I have some deep scratches on both my bumpers so I decided to get them re-painted. I'm considering UM kandy to get this done. They checked the color codes and they say they have the correct color. And they have a paint booth. Do any of you have any experience with their body painting section? Are they good?

I have a very bad experience with them at their main work shop. my viva met with an minor accident in 2010 and I handed over the vehicle to them, it took them 3 months to do the repair(3 weeks to prepare the estimate) their explanation was they are over load with sudden spike of viva sales and their work shop cannot cope up with the demand.

When it comes to workmanship it becomes worse, during my visits to the company i witnessed that some cars are painted outside with out using the paint booth. when it comes to my car there was over spray of clear coat and very bad deposit of paint residues from other vehicles. Finally the paint they have used is inferior quality and it got faded very fast.

:o hapoi what to do now...

The deepest scratch is on a side of the front bumper, black plastic is clearly visible. I thought I should paint minor scratches in back bumper while I'm at it. They said they are going to remove all the paint from bumpers and repaint again. So that means they will be removing factory-spec paint. I was thinking as Mitsubishi agents they would atleast have correct paint for vehicles they sell. Now if the agents themselves are using inferior quality paint - I am doomed.

They quoted Rs. 7000 for repainting the rear bumper of CS3 - (paid by the insurance) is this too cheap? I'm just trying to figure out if they are going to use cheap paint.

Assuming you are from Kandy, I can recommend Viskam motors at Kohombiliwela, from Matale about 2 km towards Kandy (Kandy -Matale road). Very satisfactory workmanship and I personally know many happy customers including myself. They handle insuarance stuff as well. Edited by maersk

But I thought as agents they would have the original paint and the correct color that used in Mitsubishis. I'll give viskam a call too.

As I've told you before, don't depend on UM for anything, and yes I own a Mitsubishi too. Just because they are the agent doesn't mean they work according to factory spec. Everything depends on the personel they have, and how well they are trained.

Not every agent is like this. Some brands have fairly good agents (Nissan, Maruti, Suzuki, Subaru, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Tata among others) but sadly not Mitsubishi or to a certain extent Mazda ........

A Viva Elite belong to one of my friends, met with an accident and even had to replace a small piece of chassis and repaired at United Morotors, Orugodawatta. They did a superb job and aligned the body according to manufacturers specs and paint job also was superb. I couldn't find even a single fault. Superb job, I must say. But I am not sure performance of Kandy Branch. (This happened in late 2011)
