Hey Those are some lovely cars. Especially the '75. Do a complete restoration and hang on to it. Will be a pleasure to drive around in and will be worth quite a bit as time goes on. Cheers

Whether it be a stock standard car or a modified one, I would look at what the engine combustions required optimum spark is and its associated properties and then go out there looking for a plug that fits my engine's requirments. Most brands turn out good plugs. It's the matching that is crucial.

something I don't understand. Why do you want to shift to D when being towed? For what purpose? The car is being towed....just keep the foot on the brake when stopped.

here is a thought.....why don't someone start a 100% local show? Show people how they can mod their cars using whats available locally?

From what you describe it has to be the mounts. Sadly this is the problem with non genuine parts. Not all the operating conditions and stress levels are taken into consideration when manufacturing these parts. This is why we pay more for genuine and less for others. Best is to change to genuine mounts. Other wise it will be a nusance for you when driving and eventually the vibration will start affecting other parts of the car. Cheers PS Can't you get a refund from the shop that sold the mounts? (may be this is not relevant in the SL market )

Hi DO NOT HAVE THE GEAR IN DRIVE WHEN TOWING!!! Best to have the prop shaft disconnected when towing an auto vehicle. Alternatively, lift the side of the car that has the driving wheels. Transporting on a flat bed carrier is also a good idea.

A bit more info on the problem would be helpful before an answer can be given.

This seems to be a common term in many societies. But I beg to differ. Speed does not kill! Indisciplined and careless driving is what kills!! What does the rest think?

Pls Help! - I Pumped Diesel In To Ma Petrol Car!
Duncan replied to Junkfriend's topic in General Automotive
I wouldn't worry too much. Re-set the sensors, fill the tank up and run. it should work it self out after about 2 hours of engine running time. A little bit of diesel in the engine will actually lubricate the mechanical moving parts in the engine Its the darn sensors that over react. To reset, you could try disconnecting the battery for about 12hours and then reconnecting. Usually does the trick with most cars. -
You guys most likely heard this already. A consortium lead by Richards has bought the troubled Aston Martin.

Yeah, I hear it is pretty much a done deal. The way things are going with all sorts of rules and regualtions coming out in the EU, it is quite likely that F1 and other such events will spend more time in the Mid East, Africa and Asian region than in Europe. Good for the region, Good for us !!

Hi everyone There is this global notion that SUVs are much safer than cars. So "responsible" husbands/fathers are buying SUVs for their families to run around in. Apparantly this is one of the reasons for the increased popularity in these gas guzzeling over sized 4wd station wagons. Well in my opinion, size does not necessarily equate to safety! Infact, testing has shown that cars can be much safer. Due to their lower centre of gravity a car has better chances of surviving a sudden manuver than a SUV. Upon impact, a car has alsmot the same safety impact absorbing crumple zones and other design features as any other passenger vehicle on the road. On the other hand, SUVs can be dangerous to other vehicles (Cars in particular) on the road, especially during a head on collusion. Cheers

"Bottom of the engine" - I assume that was meant to be "bottom of the tank". Diesel in a petrol car is not a problem. But if it was the other way around, it would be a disaster!! The simplest thing to do, is drain the tank and then pour in petrol and run then engine. The little bit of diesel that will remain in the system will quickly get pushed out through the engine. Infact it might even work as a mild lubricant. As for dirt in the tank, the most effective way is to remove the entire tank and then have it throughly cleaned. there should be a drain plug at the bottom of the tank. ...or remove the fuel line from a convenient place and then run the fuel pump. However, don't keep the pump running for too long. Stop and then run again.

Are there Paramedics that respond to accidents that take place on theroads in SL? What response vehicles do they drive? I was quite envious to see some of the vehicles the paramedics here drive - BMW 3s, Audi A4s, volvos, etc and they get to drive through red lights

In almost every modern car today the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. Its about the size of a 350ml fizzi drink can and in most cases located at the lowest point in the tank. Its more the cooling effect of the fuel than lubrication that is important.

Hey everyone Thought of sharing this with you. Over the past months a friend and I noticed a number of cars arriving at his workshop with failed fuel pumps. These were relatively new cars, so the question of age was not an issue. Also the cars were of various different makes and models so could not blame it on one particular model. Much later we discovered that the pumps in these cars were located inside the fuel tanks and that all the owners of these failed fuel pumps had a tendancy to run on near empty tanks on a regular basis. The fuel in which the pump is located, acts as a lubricant and a coolent for the pumps. Pro-longed running on empty drastically reduces the life span of the pump as they tend to run hot and without lubrication. So, make sure that you do not run your car on empty. Make a habit of filling up when the tak reaches 1/4. Cheers
