  1. Wiring a MINI is a DIY job, for most of us. It’s very easy as the wiring diagram is available in Hynes manual/ MINI Service Manual. If you want to get it done by an electrician, I could recommend Upul Electricals @ Koswatta, Battaramulla. Make sure to get the thing wired as per the diagram, so that it’ll be easier to troubleshoot later. GMI

    4 X 4 Club?

Hi Sanjaya, You will probably get a warning from AL admins as there is a policy prohibiting to promote any SL site through this forum. I was also excited to see the 4x4 club site sometimes back. However they have not updated since December 2007.  -GMI
  6. Today I did a small project to see how cool my MINI with rear LED light clusters, as I already have dragon eye like parking lamps in front. I used 320 high bright LEDs for both the clusters. When braking all the 320 LEDs should light up (not wired though). Seems like MINI light clusters are good for LED projects – hoping to continue the project to fill up the entire light cluster and to control the lighting with a micro controller. -GMI

  8. All the terms and the amortization schedules of both leasing and hire purchase are similar, except on the VAT and ownership. So, it’ll be both same if you want to make an early settlement. If you think of early settlement, the best option would be loans. However if you go for unregistered vehicles, you can take VAT benefits through leasing but not from HP. If you go for registered vehicles, HP is much beneficial as you do not have a VAT component. Call a leasing agent; you can get their assistance with many details…
  9. Here the automotive LED’s are pretty much expensive. Therefore I bought 3V high bright LED’s from Pettah for Rs.22- each and replaced my parking lamps (used a resister). You can solder suitable holders to suite any vehicle. -GMI

hi Faz, 10" and 12" with standard tyre rides are more comfortable than 13" rims with low profile tyres. However if your concern is on looks, probably you will select 13" or 12" deep dish wheels (so called mini lite rims though they are not original mini lites). Only thing is you will have to cut the front fenders and use wide wheel arches if you are going for deep dish 13".
  12. My experience is 4DR5 and 4DR6 engines are little thirstier than BJ40. I had a 4DR5 with a good engine and it did around 6~8 kms per ltr while my friend’s BJ40 does 10~11 kms per ltr with A/C.
  13. The funeral of Dilshan Bandaranayake will be on 23rd April at 3.00pm in Kandy. The body is at #98 Galkanda Rd, Anniewatte, Kandy. It is next to Gateway school Kandy. The Mighty Mini Club will not be going in parade in Mini’s at the funeral based on a request made by Dilshan’s wife. There will be a bus or 2 arranged by the Mighty Mini Club for any member who needs to go to the funeral.
  14. It is a great sadness to announce the sudden demise of our fellow member & veteran Mini racing driver Dilshan Bandaranayake under tragic circumstance on 20th April. Our deepest sympathies are with his family. Mighty Mini Club members will meet up at Palam Thuna junction near the AMRC track in Battramulla on Wednesday 23rd April at 8am to go in procession to the funeral which will be in Kandy that afternoon.

  16. still there is no K&N available for Vios to fit in the OEM filter box. try to contact Sohein. he should have Apexi's
  17. I too second it. If you now place a photo classified advertisement, most of the times, it gets off from the 1st page of buy.asp in few hours. From my point of view I see a disadvantage for the advertisers. May be you can relay the buy.asp. GMI
  18. Mine is year 2000, K11 with manual transmission. I use a Hurricane performance air intake system and NGK Iridium plugs with no tail end exhaust muffler. It does 14kms per ltr with A/C in city running with 90 octane petrol. GMI
  19. Not sure whether your bike is EFI, if so and if you mix 95 and 90 with higher percentages, you should experience uneven idle revolutions (based on my experiences with EFI cars).
  20. Hi, LR experts, please recommend me what diesel to use in my 200 TDi? According the Defender 90 manual, I could use diesel which has Sulphur Content of less than 1%. Both Auto Diesel and Super diesel has less than 1%,according to Cyepetco specs. Please share some thoughts on the advantages of Super Diesel over Auto Diesel. You cannot mix 90 octane petrol with 95 – like that are there any restrictions of mixing Auto Diesel and Super Diesel? Thanks and regards, GMI
  21. Anyone knows Horana Cushion Works phone number please? thanks, GMI
  22. I’ve been searching for a Defender for about 2 months now. I was looking for 200/300TDi’s. The prices of 90’s were ranging from Rs.2.4Mn ~ 3.2Mn. 110’s were from Rs.3.7Mn ~ 5.5Mn.
  23. Perhaps you are referring the 300 TDi he had. I was about to buy that but ended up with his 200 TDi.
  24. Wow… all the info I will need for the next year is here…. Thanks guys… I bought the machine from Souhain with Mark’s and Dirk’s support at their level best. It runs a 200 TDI (said to be very low mileage) with a LT77 on an ex-STF chassis with a restored body. I will still have to complete the restoration on rear seats (no rear seats at all) and rear upholstery – thought of meeting Indika on Saturday. Thanks again guys. GMI
  25. Hi guys, Bought a new Land Rover 90 an ex-STF chassis restored with 200 TDI engine. Now many advices to seek as this is my first LR: 1. In the Service manual, it recommends “ATF Dexron IID “ oil for the Main manual Gearbox. This is bit wired for me as it recommends automatic transfer fluid for the manual box. Are you guys following this? 2. Please recommend places to buy a jack (may be high lift), a wheel brace. 3. A place to buy maintenance parts such as filters 4. A place to buy a set of 15” alloy/metal wheels (even used with good condition) 5. A place to buy a snorkel 6. A place to buy wide off-road tyres 7. On top of all please recommend me a good, trust worthy mechanic for maintenance jobs I checked the above parts @ OutD___Man, and none of the above was available in their stocks. thanks, GMI
