  1. I think it's time to start a seperate thread for flood damaged hybrids
  2. In 2011 it was 11k. I recently checked the prices out of curiosity and it's more or less the same. Machan the problem is though HIDs in reflector housing give out more light, it is totally wasted because it spreads here and there not focusing on the road. So its not efficient. And I hardly notice any reduction in visibility when I drive at night with fog lights off because my low beam HID projectors provide enough light. I usually travel to Bandarawela and Nuwara Eliya because one is my home town and other is where my sister lives. Most of the time it's rainy and misty. During rain at night these HIDs are hopeless ,the roads almost appear black. And not helpful with the fog or mist. That's why I thought of going back to halogen fog bulbs or osram fog breakers. At least the fog lights would be worthy of their name
  3. Phillips LED fogs seems like a good deal. They may be costly but in long term it would be beneficial IMO. HIDs are cheaper but most of them don't even have a guarantee. LEDs are good for the housing also due to less heat, good for the battery as well. Anyway how much is it? Now I feel like I should buy a set of those
  4. So you're going for HIDs? I don't have any experience with the ones ordered through eBay, but the HID kits sold in local joints like S#n L#nka are all the same (same bulbs and stuff ). Only the box they come in is different. I have 6000k bulbs which is more close to white light. When the kelvin value reduces , the light is more yellowish and when it increases it's purplish. I'm hoping to replace mine with Osram fog breakers when these bulbs give up.
  5. I used HIDs for the fog lights of my axio when I (we) bought it in 2011. The main reason was that there was a HID xennon craze going on during that time and also my low beams come with factory fitted xennon HID projectors, so I thought HIDs in fogs would match that( what a newb ) I had been using them for 4 years without a problem (fixed from S#n l#nka ) but last year had to replace both bulbs. Even though I thought it was a good idea to use them for fogs, now I think it was not. Firstly the reflector housing of the fogs are not designed for HIDs. So the light spreads everywhere not focusing on the road. Secondly poor visibility during rain (It is so ironic given that one of the purpose of fogs is to be used during rain) And also a lot of heat developing in the small housing. Only pro seems to be the looks. Since my car didn't come with daytime running lights, I use these during daytime. I think you'd be better off with Osram fog breakers. If you still need white light you could try night breakers or LED fog lights. P.S - as some forum members also pointed out, HIDs are only suitable for projectors. I've heard some cars have specially designed reflector housing for HIDs (premio) but not sure about that.
  6. This is quite useful information. I was always wondering what these EA- and FZ- numbers were. Thanks for sharing Crosswind.
  7. Is that so?. Then you've got some time. Things will get settled by then ,hopefully. Specially @ Thalduwa so that you can take the route via Avissawella and Ginigathhena.
  8. I think you meant "pros" by "cons"
  9. Sorry to hear about the trouble. Anyway are you the first owner? If not you can't be sure about maintenance of the CVT by the previous owners, though you took a good care of it. What is the exact interval you change CVT oil?
  10. Why don't you guys avoid long trips these days until the things get settled?
  11. Toyota Axio hybrid has 2 grades Axio hybrid G Axio hybrid There is no such a thing as X grade even though most people refer to "Axio hybrid " as X grade. The differences between these 2 grades have been discussed before. Why don't you do a search?
  12. Who use vinegar to make pol sambol?
  13. Somewhere I read 8 Teslas were sold in SL.
  14. I guess you're referring to 141 model. If so there's a lid just below the AC controllers. Open it, and there you'll find a cigarette lighter +ash trey
  15. Another vote for Mazda 6.
  16. Brace yourselves and hide your dogs

  18. Happy birthday Trinity!
  19. + That's definitely not a F10. It's a F30.
  20. Alesso - I Wanna Know ft. Nico & Vinz
  21. I use the first type. So far no problem. The second one seems to be fixed from outside. Is that practical in SL? Most probably will get stolen
  22. Is this the model called as "wijeweera model" or the wagon?
  23. Truth spoken
  24. For our media 10 to 15 years old vehicles are "modern" and insight, axio and vezel are "luxury cars and jeeps".
  25. One of my colleagues had this problem with her Aqua 2014. She always calls me when it gets stuck Usually I correct it by turning on/off the ignition a few times and pressing the power mirror button. But she's corrected it after I asked her to check it with an electric guy at a garage . As she said it was not a big issue to repair it.
