  1. Please don't recommend Lancers to obvious baiyas ? Let's keep the number of molested Lancers as low as we could ?
  2. I remember you asking about a dashcam, did you get one? Do you dismount it when parking under the hot sun like this?
  3. Whoa, put an NSFW warning or something, think about the children, man! Seriously glad that UNIMO wised up and didn't remove the engine cover from 4A92s. Make sure they don't pressure wash the engine 'cause this might happen... I, too, don't let them do that regardless of the cover, the ECU is out there in the open too
  4. Eh, my engine cover looks like a thong compared to your shorts ?
  5. Your writing felt like driving down a moderately steep slope in neutral... was a pleasant experience 'cause there was zero traffic and the road was buttery smooth with minimal corners! ... and the car looks great too (although I'm no fan of the look of SUVs/hatches in general, Suzuki has done something right here). Wishing you many enjoyable and safe kilometers! Do keep this thread updated with your adventures with her as frequently as possible ❤️
  6. Is this the response you're getting for the decoded ERC? If it is, I'm afraid the algorithm to decode your particular ERC is not available to the public as of yet... you might have to contact Toyota Japan via your importer
  7. You can go for a Viva Elite for 1.8ish
  8. Dude, this is the "Japanese car news thread"
  9. Oh no, like @Davy said it's quite rare for an ECU to get fried just like that, I was just curious what caused it. Maybe he needs to take the car to UNIMO for a second opinion - ask if he has any idea what might have caused the ECU to go kaput.
  10. Could you tell us what happened to it? Did he drive through a flooded road? Pressure washed the engine bay? Messed with the electrical system? Rodent attack?
  11. Passo 2008 - Easier to find an unsuspecting rabbit out of the Toyota fluffle when you're reselling it Celerio 2015 - No pros that I know of Viva Elite - This would be my choice, it has proven itself a reliable car under harsh Sri Lankan conditions plus the agent still carry brand-new spares for the car, plenty of 3rd party spare part vendors too Vios 2004 - Same as the Passo, go for it if you're into sedans and abused cars in general Zotye Z100 - Unit#d Mot#rs offer a good after-sales service for their cars but I'd avoid this car due to it being an entirely new addition to the market
  12. As a loyal customer of UNIMO this makes me sad... Their after-sales service is one of the best out there when it comes to quality and reasonable pricing
  13. Thanks everyone. So it seems the safest thing to do is to avoid wading through water whenever possible
  14. Watching videos of the cars wading through flooded roads on SLTV (Sri Lanka Traffic Violations) page had me thinking: is there a way to determine the wading depth of the car by yourself if the manufacturer hasn't mentioned it anywhere? A google search told me that the cars which have an air intake through the wheel well are most vulnerable - do you guys know any cars popular in SL that have the air intake positioned like so?

@Hyaenidae??????. Here’s a story that happened to me. One day I was driving one of my friends manual Corolla 2, which had some shifting issues in the selector. When going down a sloped bend, suddenly a bus crossed the road to make a u turn. Went for a pretty hard brake to stop the car. Then I shouted “ h*****da?” while the driver was glancing at me through the door. Sadly, the gear selector was unable to engage but I was hurrying to go, making the engine scream. After a few seconds the shifter worked. But really ashamed as I was unable to continue the “loku line” due to the gear shifter, who made me look like an immature at manual gears?

  16. They were trying to poke back at you by taking pot shots at Hondas ?
  17. Every GP1 is a DAA-GP1.
  18. Well, check if the particular GP1 you're going to buy falls under the recall notice for the famous oil burning issue - if it doesn't and the overall condition and maintenance history looks good, go for it. Here's the official recall notice with affected VIN ranges: https://www.honda.co.jp/recall/auto/other/170120.html
  19. Well, you can feel the difference in power between a CS1 and a CS2/CS3, but for average day-to-day driving, I don't think it's that much of an issue. It certainly doesn't feel as underpowered as modern Kei cars. I reckon CS1 would be more fuel-efficient in traffic. Finding a CS1 in good condition would be easier than finding a CS2/CS3 in similar condition, owners who maintain those meticulously rarely let them go. Refer to this thread as well : http://autolanka.com/forums/topic/18754-my-new-ride-mistubishi-lancer-cs1-glx-at-yom-2007/ If you're going for a CS2, avoid the GDI engine, refer to this thread for more info : http://www.elakiri.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1882176
  20. In which aspect though? I've driven a Cerato, It didn't handle as well as the CS, steering is lighter, ride is not as comfy as a CS. Does it have independent suspension?
  21. Well I'm wayyyyyy too into lancers its creepy af ...with that out of the way, I can't fathom why anyone would buy a Thailand-made car that is meant to be used as a taxi if you can find a CS2/CS3 in good condition for the same budget... even the CS1 is much loved among its owners, there's an ad on the quick site for a 1st owner GL that has done frigging 232,000kms!
