Convert A Suzuki Swift (Hs51) 4Wd Car To 2Wd

I am a new user to AutoLanka.

Is it possible to convert a Suzuki Swift (HS51) 4WD Car to 2WD to reduce fuel consumption. Any disadvantages?

WHy don't you just sell it and buy a 2WD car?

But you will need to possibly change the gearbox (at a minimum the transfer box, but this might be integrated to the gear box) remove the axle rod, rear differential and swap the wheel hubs to 2WD ones. Quite a project, and in your case might be easier just to get a 2WD version. If I'm not mistaken this car is quite common isn't it in 4WD form?

Ok. But IMO it's not worth the trouble for a common car like this, and the money spent probably won't be recovered.

Yes only 1 major disadvantage, it wont be 4WD anymore

like Blu3haze says its not worth the trouble, selling it and buying a new car is the best option. Thats ultimately what "The Don" also says, right after all the blah blah

The investmnet to change all that is not worth it considering that you will not get that much of a change in your fuel figures. My BIL had the same setup and it was fine. Its not a hardcore AWD system anyway Its a 90/10 split.
