Question

So I have heard of the tax excemption when you import your car (the one you have been using in the UK) to Sri Lanka when you move back to SL. So does anyone know how this would work?

Also anyone knows what I would be charged interms of tax and other fees in Colombo if I brought down a 1 year old BMW 316 or a Mercedese Benz C 200? Please help.

Search the forum and you will find links to the duty being charged and an explanation, but this changes quite frequently.

This web site will have everything you need. But the information maybe out of date. You might be better off speaking to a clearing agent in SL. I am also not sure if the special scheme where you could import an older vehicle used by you abroad is still in operation. Best speak to the department directly.
