If your problem started after changing the clutch, then you should re-verify the installation. I have never heard of this issue before, nor can I think of a reasonable situation that can cause fuel consumption issues after a new clutch install.

The only remote possibility is that your clutch is slipping [check the pressure plate bolt torque]. If this is the case, you'll kill that clutch in no time. While you're there check the throwout bearing as well [hope you used a new one]. The "zzzz" sound could come from it.

I don't know your mechanical skills so don't feel insulted, but make sure that your didn't reversed the clutch dick.

i agree with mani... probably slipping...

try this: while cruising on the 2nd gear, shift to the 4th release the clutch and step on the gas.... does the engine rv up without the car accelerating proportionality? then you got a clutch thats slipping. Fix it soon before you wear out the new clutch too...

I had the same issue in my FB15 2001 Manual; As soon as i changed the clutch/presure plates, the consumption went down and I've changed everything including plugs, cleaned injectors, changed the air filter etc. but no improvement.

Then, after about 2 months time, my father took it back to the mechanic and he had done something saying he is not the one who fixed it and his assistant was the one and there are some slight adjustments need to be done blah blah, so he kept the car for 2 days. after that i feel the normal force and consumption again.

Dont know what he has done the 2nd time, but worked for me.
