Personally I don't think both are good choices. If you don't mind me asking, what's your budget?

I dropped by the Proton showroom last week and saw the new Gen2 sedan available for permit for less than 2.1million drive away price. That might be a reasonable low budget option.

(I do have a vested interest on Protons since I drive one )

a collegue of mine had a proton, and the after sales at the agents were terrible. Anyways the car was a proton savvy. Wasn't impressed with the interior build quality.

The KIA's have come a long way. Best is to go see all three in flesh. I would go for the cube if had the choice

A VIVA for the permit would be a better choice.Just my 2cents

The KIA soul is a great car compairede to the a-star and viva,

It looks like a car higher than their class must be more expensive than them,

it looks to me like it goes with the sx4 or dualis and toyota ist,

If you consider resell value, you need to think about popular brand and model. Toyota registered car in Japan, within one year may be a better choice.
