I was at clean Park yesterday getting my car cleaned and I got to know that they now have a real time tyre pressure monitoring system available. Apparently it cost something in the range of SLR 22,000.00. I thought this info would be useful to the drag racers so that they can use it as a safety feature. Hope this does not come under advertising…

I've seen it too, I feel it's not worth for that much price..

my friend got that done in his car. it's a nifty little gadget to have but definitely not worth the price...

the Pet#o La#ka guy told me dat they have a device which can be plugged into the cigar lighter and use to pump air into tyres, obviously dat thing has more practical use than a real time tyre pressure check, and that costs about 4000/= i guess... anyway this device you have highlighted could be a life saver for a drag racer and worth da cost... and tnx 4 da info.(though i am not a drag racer :violent-smiley-099: of any sorts)

Then on what basis would one comment that

"anyway this device you have highlighted could be a life saver for a drag racer and worth da cost..."

Please elaborate?

wud a drag racer even have time to divert his attention to this thing? besides at those speeds i doubt u'd need a monitor to realise ur losing pressure...

Exactly why those who dont know stuff should not comment on it ;) Go on now..prove me wrong by answering my first question.. What no guts?

Oh I am terribly sorry that I commented on something that I don't know about, you truly act fatherly giving proper guidance, next time I shall not comment on stuff that I don't know about.

Please help me to learn stuff that I know about and as you know I shall be very good in paying gratitudes.

Dear Friends,

I am considering to have an after market TPMS to my corolla 110. Cos the roads I drive are full with debris due to construction and ill behavour of people. And I have to stop my OCD of checking tyres in the road side.-I have ruined 2 tyres in the past by running flat-

model TP1 tpms is 25000/- in sun lanka including installation. And in e-bay the system is around $160-300. But I have to install them my self and fixing the tyre pressure monitors is worrying me.My dear friends,What is your opinion?Go to sun laka 0r other local shop-any clue-? or go for E-bay gadjet?

Personally, I'd go buy locally if the price difference is as Lucky007 has pointed out. Pressure sensors tend to get damaged easily if not handled without care and ebay kits are notorious to fail pre maturely. So, I'd rather get them put in by someone who does it regularly and have some sort of a warranty.

Also, keep in mind to tell the tyre shop when you swap tyres in the future. The machine that pops the bead will damage the sensor if not done carefully.

I installed a system available at Sunlanka (Steelmate TP-73).

It has internal sensors and has a display that fits nicely in to the switch panel of toyota's.

It costs 26k.
