Guys,

I'm planning to sell my Toyota diesel DX wagon(1992-1993 model, 64-). From a car sale owner i heard current market value of this vehicle model is 11.5 laks.

My vehicle have some dents and scratches which need to be fix. As per my mechanic it's not possible to re-paint only those parts bcos there will be color difference and said need to full paint. Also need to paint front and rear bumpers. Apart from this need to repair leak in power steering system and replace tappet covers. According to mechanic all this repairs will cost around 60k.

My question is it worth to do these repairs and painting before selling vehicle? For what price can I give my vehicle without these repairs?

Thx

Don't forget that u will also need to set time aside to do the repairs. If you are a busy person, it might be tough for u. The best way to do this is to sell the car as it is and be honest about it. But then u need to find a buyer who will understand that u are being honest.

sri lankan buyers have the tendency to talk sh!t about the car and whatever faults it may have just so that they can pull the price down. They'd keep comparing it to the car when it was brand new etc etc.. you know the drill..

Generally the cost of fixing up the car is is less than then additional price mark-up you can make. And buyers too prefer paying a bit of a premium on getting a good car as opposed to buying a bad car and have to spend additional time in the garage.

Lasa, unless the paint is faded badly, you should be able to just paint the bits that needs repairing.

Watchman is right, people will talk shit about the car, but they will do it anyway. Also an eagle eyed buyer will notice any recent work done on the body work of the car and might try to bargain on that basis as well. Also when you start repairing the car you might even more stuff that need fixing so I wonder if you want to open that can of worms. So I think I agree with Crosswind, and sell the car at a 60K discount and be honest with the buyer (I think I would fix the power steering system problem as it probably wont cost a lot of money and you will feel better about selling a vehicle that is mechanically sound with only cosmetic issues). I think it might be the most cost effective and easiest for you.
