Bmw M10 Webber Carb

Hi All,

I just became a proud owner of a Classic BMW E30 316. Love the car, but i ran into a issue early on my ownership. The 316 is equipped with a Pierburg carb which is giving me a whole load of trouble. I can't seem to keep a good engine tune as the carb has out done it's life. I also read that this particular carb is troublesome by many BMW owners out there & has converted to a webber carb. I'm looking for a webber carb to replace with the excising carb. My engine is a 1.5 L. Anyone out there who has a spare carb for sale or point me in the right direction to get my hands on one ??? I checked out ebay, Milroy & so many, without any luck. Has anyone done a Webber replacement ? Any advice is most appreciated. Also if you have any extra spares for E30 you wanna get rid off pls contact me.

Thank You

you might wanna try ebay uk site. the international site doesn't show stuff that are only available to be shipped only within uk.

Also check bimmer forums too see if any specialists having the carby you want. quite a few rare euro parts can be had that way. You'd have to search a fair bit though... also shipping costs too wil be somewhat high.

Good luck on the hunt and congrats on your buy :)

Hi

Did check ebay, but no luck. Plus the only carb avaliable is for the 1.8 lt. My engine is a 1.6 lt. Also the carb in the car is pierburg b1 which came on the VW golf MK1. I don't know how that happened, because when i check on the RealOEM website they say i should have a pierburg b2e. Can someone confirm me with this pls. Did the 1.6lt come with a pierburg b1 ?

Thanks

But also if you're using ebay uk search for E30 316 breaking and then contact the seller to see if they have the part available.

I'll check on the Bimmer club on FB. I checked with Milroy, that bugger quoted like 125k for the carb. That is way off. Plus he's not interested in making old classics.

I did read that post. The thing is my engine is a 1.6Lt with Pierburg 1B carb. If my engine was a 1.8Lt with a Pierburg 2B no issue the carb is available online. Did check ebay. No Luck !!!

But I found a few cars advertised by breakers on ebay which were 1.6L. Even if the carb wasn't 100% correct can you not buy the carb and the fitments and the manifold and simply replace the carb with another unit ? Surely at least one of those cars would have a compatible carb in it ...?
