Recommended Posts

Guys I need some advice. What is the best vehicle from the below list that has good acceleration when overtaking, climbing hills etc and good power to weight ratio.

1) Toyota Vitz KSP10 1000CC A/T

2) Suzuki Swift HT51S 1300CC A/T

3) Toyota Carina Ti 1500CC A/T

4) Nissan FB15 1500CC A/T

Thanks in advance

I don't know from your list, but if acceleration is important to you, get a manual.

I'd put my money on the sedans.

some people say toyota carina ti and nissan sunny fb15 nealy have the same acceleration but from my experience carina ti has more acceleration than sunny fb15 maybe because carina ti has more torque than nissan fb15 overall i advice you to buy a carina ti because it has more interior space and it has more cargo space at the back and carina is more comfortable than fb15 carina has higher ground clearance than fb15 so if you going to buy a carina buy a carina ti my road it has more options than than carina ti. :)

I also like the carina than the rest but I've heard that its heavier than the rest and the engine has a hard time pulling it thus reducing acceleration.

It's the heaviest, yes, but not by a huge margin. According to specs, the Sunny and the Carina are pretty much similar in power and weight.

as Big_D pointed out it is not by a huge margin if you drive both cars you will feel carina is faster than fb15 and in carina when you reach 120kmh it is still stable but in fb15 it's feel like car is wobbling in carina handling is better than fb15

btw if you want a car with best acceleration buy a carina gt and forget about other cars in this list. :D

Yes machan I've heard the GT is the best, but if something goes wrong I will have a hard time finding spare parts. Also heard that GT's are expensive than Ti's. My budget is 1.8mn max If Im going for a carina Ti Im aiming for a 98 old shell model. :)

most of carina gt parts are same as carina ti and no there are not hard to find if you know were to look yes it is little expensive than ti but in places like kurunegala ti has higher market than gt you can find 96 0r 97 model gt for 1.8mill.

you must be joking if you think the 1.0l vitz has any kind of power.. The 1300 swift struggles abit as well (mind you i'm talking about the Manual Jap one here) and yes I agree with Peri, Manual any day over Auto, but if your determined for an auto, the swift sport which is a 1.6 l or the normal swift VVT 1.5l would be good options, so would the Vitz RS 1.5l. A vios would be a good option as well, however finding one with the engine in good condition is very tough...

Edit. Sorry I just saw your budget, I say a 2004 model Swift 1.5l Jap. :) if you could find one with just 1 or 2 owners and bought brand new, it'll be easily among the top 3 or top 2 of your list (personally I think number 1 but its debateable :) )

Machan I would love to get me hands on a 1.6l sports swift beetle (ZC31S) but its hard to find one. :( All the ones i've seen are either 2007/08 1.2l CVT (ZC71S) or 2005/06 1.3l VVT AT (ZC11S). I guess the early models didnt come with CVT. From these two models what would be the best?

Comparission

The vios and vitz RS is hopelessly over priced I wont be able to afford one. But the Carina Ti and Si is still in my list.

@nexus allmost all the GT's I found were M/T. 4 out of 5 cars I owned upto date were all manuals but those were the good old days. Now my Gf has come in to play she also wants to use my car and she hate manuals. :P

yes machan most of the ones I've found were old shells. I guess I can find a 99/00 GT for 2.2mn. What do you think about the 1.8 Si?

and I also like the civic ek3 vi-rs. Did the ek3 range come past 1998? I have a small doubt about spare parts etc.

Ok machan It was just an idea..thought you would be interested as your GF also wants to drive..anyway I think you can go ek3 I think that will be the best..but If you do a good search even a GD8 Fitaria (2002,2003) and If you are interested in a small SUV the HR-V is under your new budget..finding parts for Hondas are not a big problem as people say..

Thanks machan, I've heard some negative things about the fit aria the apearence and the fact thats its assembled in thiland doesnt seem to add up right. The HR-V looks nice and I realy like to have one but is the 1.6l engine powerfull enough? and how is the fuel effishancy of this? When compearing to the ek3 vi-rs these wont be able to beat it right?
