Hi experts ,

There is a corrosion appearing above my cars windscreen. it is a FB-15 1999 MODEL, When I called A*W they said it will coat more than 40000 and there will be no warranty, so i thought of going for a local expert.(for less price :)).

Do u guys know a place where i can have a descent job for les than A*W :)

tHANKS IN ADVANCE....

It looks like a bad corrosion. And a very critical area to have.Better get the repair done before the inter monsoon.

If only the windscreen area is affected 40K is above the average price. Which area you from?

Yes, you should never have let it deteriorate to that level. Get it fixed asap. I think even a normal garage will charge you at least 30,000 for the job. I was recently quoted 25K for a small bit of corrosion repair, some touch up and repair to the rear spoiler. But in your case you will need to factor in the re fitting of the windscreen which as Harshan says costs about 5K on its own.

I assume A*W hasn't actually seen the car when they quoted 40K ?

Machan there is no garage that will gurantee corrosion repairs as once you set the welding torch to the metal there will be corrosion at some point or the other,40k for your work by A*W seems ok but do check around coz you might be able to get it done slightly less for about 25-30k but make sure the paint is matched correctly

Looking at the degree to which it has rusted there is a pretty good chance the rust has spread out pretty far under the paint. Price seems decent considering the work involved. Try contacting one of those bigger paint places and see what they come up with.

Just curious though, was the windshield ever replaced? Something must have gone wrong for it to rust that much.

The usual problem is some idiots filling up the drainage holes with sealant to supposedly seal the windscreen in, and this causes moisture to collect underneath rather than drain out, and slowly rust away.
