Hey guys ive thought about buying a mini for a while and now i finally have enough cash for one. The problem i have is i have seen many BMW's for around the same price and im not sure which one to go for. So basically i have a budget of 1 million and since i dont know much about cars i have no idea what to buy. The car is going to be a daily runner so it needs to be reliable and reasonably economical. Also im not interested in the japanese cars i need a European car :) Any suggestions guys?

Guess you are talking about a BMW E30 here. E30s are lot cheaper than 1M these days. You can find a good one around LKR 7-8 lakhs.

I recommend you go for a BMW since you mentioned " i dont know much about cars i have no idea what to buy. The car is going to be a daily runner so it needs to be reliable and reasonably economical."

Minis are good and not a car as a starter. Get used to automobiles, then go for a Mini. You can enjoy Minis a lot but "Conditions applied" smile.gif

as miniace pointed out i too think you better of buying a bmw because you don't know much about cars after you gain experience you can move to the mini and you can all so find a Peugeot 405 for your price range good luck dude. :)

Long time ago, I posted Mini engine identification data on this forum. That also might help.

Maruti Gypsy, old 4DR5, old Dai Rocky with work to be done. Maruti Gypsy is probly the most uncomfortable vehicle on earth but you do get the advantages of cheap spares and all. You can probably get hold of an English number one (G, H series) for less than a mill.

Dude I guess you are really confused...you have 1Million and you still cant figure out the car you want..am i right?

First sort out what the type of vehicle you want, a daily drive EU car, a Mini , A jeep kinda ( not sure how suitable that as a daily drive).

Spend sometime doing your homework and post your requirement here, Im sure AL member will help you out with your decision.Otherwise you are making yourself to the clowns union.

Think about it..im just trying to settle you down.

Good luck!

agreed with that. my dad used to own a mini when i was Very Small.. and it gave him quite some trouble but he loved it though.

it was such a nice car. but it kinda show old British engineering.

Well Minis are not headaches as many feared. Thats a very serious myth. Early models (Mk1-3) are not easy to maintain and need lot of TLC..But totally agree the fact, that minis are not the car for a 'newbies'.
