I agree with your wait theory IF the person buying doesn't have the time/knowledge/passion for hybrids. I personally felt it was a good choice and I was correct. If I sell my vehicle for going prices now I am up 1.5 million easy. If my engine falls away, along with the hybrid system, I can still replace it!

Hybrid repairs still cost more than regular repairs in foreign countries. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, latest tech will always be more expensive to maintain. In the end this is all a matter of opinion and what you require.

Out of context: Is your del sol silver and maybe 300- number? Also do you have an opinion on the d4d rav4 in sri lanka? Is the engine used in any other vehicles? I did a 5min google with no luck.

Well good for you,but I'm afraid to say that you are the minority cos most of the Hybrid owners are clueless or just hoping and praying that nothing goes wrong with their cars untill Toyota lanka and others start to repair them.

You said you can easily replace the whole system...I'm just curious where do you take your car for repairs and service, anyone you reccomend?...you have a reliable contact for spare parts...just for my information,I have couple owners asking me.

Yes latest tech is expensive to repair, thats why we wait.As you said it depends on the individual. Our priority is not being so called pioneers and buying everything(without a valid warrenty) just because they're cheap then hoping to god nothing goes wrong.

Mine is 19- the black Sol...and sorry man I have no clue about that rav4,but I'm sure some others here will.Open a new topic if you don't find anything via the search function.

If you get electrocuted and die, you won't be able to post on this forum. See how our hybrid boys lack common sense?

BTW you don't need to tell me what the "service plug" is. I bet you couldn't tell me the location of it without google.

Well i'm not a toyota service boy like your well trained self. Are you the red jumpsuit level or still stuck on the blue? Google helps me.

Go beat off to a Reventon. You will be much less frustrated and stop with the ramblings. You will even save some time to get your advanced toyota training and do a better job with our cars.

haha no no, when I said replace the whole system I was trying to amuse you with the cost saving. I very much doubt anyone can do that in SL right now. I haven't done any repairs yet. As for servicing, I went to Auto Mirage Nawala with my driver and supervised once (I own a prius in UK so have seen them do it). Since then I always send him with the car when servicing (done only twice).

As for parts, I don't think anyone brings them down brand new and stock for the moment. Parts from salvaged vehicles are available. I can give you details but I have no experiences with them.

You went to auto mirage with your driver and supervise? how exactly did you supervise and how doe seeing a prius being serviced in the U.K. give you so much experience to the point where you can supervise? I really want to hear your explanation..........

also... "servicing" and attending to a repair when things eventually go wrong are two different things imho.

especially when fancy electronic stuff go bust.

Definitely, that's why you need the specialist equipment to diagnose the electronics.

He asked about servicing, I have seen toyota do a thorough check and passed on my knowledge. That is enough since I have no problems with my car.

Desperately wanting to see a drag between a Prius and something like a ek3

yeah i would like to see that too but then again prius owners will be to busy looking at mileage calculator and saving trees.

i have try to race them plenty of time in my vi-rs but it doesn't work as i said earlier they are to busy looking at mileage calculator than passing vehicles any ways if i find one speed up i will surely let them eat my dust. ;)

well i think some people truly have underestimated certain aspects of these hybrids.

for one... both the prius and the insight aren't slow cars when you want them to move.

just that many people who want most miles per litre of fuel end up buying them and hypermile them to the much annoyance of everybody else.

Almost every single day is see a few prius boys hypermiling on the right lane :(

It could be me! As I hate it when the ek3's try to overtake from the left but just end up idling at the blindspot because they can't accelerate fast enough.

Ok I've just about had it with these f***ing retards. Listen you dyslexic hybrid fan boys, what masterdon said is correct and no matter how much you try to argue, at the end of the day, the man is right. Hybrids may be a good option for the future but it really isn't right now.

and what's this crap about special tools that arabian got down? do you retards even know what the tools are? the fact is that the tools for hybrids don't cost as much considering ewhat they charge retards like you. I got a box full of high voltage tools that I can use on hybrids sitting in my store room. The only special tool I have had to buy is the insulation tester. The other most important tool is a scanner which any major garage should have. What these special tools won't provide is experience and knowledge.

I really really really really miss the axio and allion fan boys right now. Atleast those dumbasses knew how to STFU when they were wrong. I think smelling your own farts must have damaged some of your brain cells.

Oh yeah and I'll be waiting for your predictable reply.

hybrid blah blah it's the future blah blah.

At the end of the day you sh** heads don't know anything about cars, yet are willing to argue people who know a lot more about cars and the sri lankan car market.

I'm just waiting till one of yuou mokeys decides to DIY a repair and winds up dead. I swear to god I'll be LMAO like I have in other cases where darwinism had kicked in.

I'm not an automobile expert, i do not have a phd in automobile and stuff. But as a person who has driven one of these cars, I think its ok for a person who's main concerns are about saving fuel and stuff. I'm not a prius fan boy. Don't have one either. I drive a STI in my day to day life.

really then i assume you never met a ek3 Vi Vi-RS or Si and ever try to overtake you try to find one and drive one then you will feel the difference between slow fuel saving car and fast car.

btw if you drive very fast and try to race other cars on the road then you are a idiot it's not what prius build for it's build for one purpose it's to give better fuel mileage but not for racing.

Hi guys!im planing to buy a prius hybrid 2008 model.but now im bit disappointed about it.bcoz there are many registed prius for sale by owners..why are they selling that so soon? is there any hidden problems?pls help me!!

They would have imported it when the tax was just 39% and by selling it now (before the taxes are reduced again for hybrids, by ant chance) they can make a big profit.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the look ol' Clinty is giving doesn't match the statement. It's more like a 'Hey there, I just got a new cigar...wanna try it out?'.
