Question

I have recently bought a Toyota Vits 1000cc car. Near the door panel label indicates the Tyre pressure as 165/70R14 815/220/2.2 so i think according to that the Tyre pressure should be 2.2 bars or 32psi. but one of my friend has the same car and he told that correct tyre pressure should be 28. and also when I go to tyre merchants to check the pressure they tells not to fill air above 28. Dear expert please give me a advice what should be the correct Tyre pressure for my car. thanks in-advance.

The correct tyre pressure is what your car tells you. Not what your friend or your tyre merchant tells you.

Correct Tyre preassure is what the Car says. I have been using the indicated Tyre preassure in all my vehicles. They are usually 20+ for front wheels as they carry the weight of the engine.

I have calculated and proven that lower Tyre preasuure affects fuel economy by say 5% to 6%.

There is a common myth in our country that Tyre preassure for cars is 28 or some where near that.

But mind you, when you pump the said 30+ values, you will be bumpy on rough roads in Sri Lanka.

From a safety and a fuel economy perspective I alwayd pump the right preasuer and kind of make it slow on rough roads. Hope this helps.
