Question

Hi,

Bought a Premio NZT240 recently and I find the Auto Gear unit get hot when long distance driving (even for 25km). Did a transmission fluid change but still no improvement. Any idea whats the cause of this?

Thanks.

Shehan

Well, for starters, the actual gear box is no where near the gear lever. One reason this could be happening is that the car floor insulating must be torn or missing. Also normally the CAT is near where the selector lever is, so there might be a hear transfer. Which is normal in other regular cars.

I feel the abnormal heat right under the gear when i drive. Wasnt sure about the transmission fluid though (just a guess). None of my other cars had this issue.

'noelshehan',

this vehicle you are referring is a front wheel drive. how can your gear shift under get heated possible answer is given by VVTi check that. If the transmission is over heating you will have some other problems.

a little heat in the area above the exhaust is normal. If there's excess heat it could mean a missing heat shield or a blocked catalytic convertor.
