I recently tried to replace the existing head lamps and corner lamps of my CE110 (crystal light model).

I found two types of "Koito" products named as Koito-Japan (Used) and Koito-Thai (Brand new & Used). Koito-Thai brand new is lot more cheaper than used Japan- Koito

Are there any difference in quality of these two products?

Is Koito-Thai production is a genuine production?

I think it is probably genuine but the key question is what is the price difference? Also why are you replacing the headlamps and corner lamps?

Reason for relapsing the front lamps is inner reflective layer has faded/pealed off due to aging and the conner lamps too having some minor cracks and looks bit ugly.

Koito Japan used coner lamp is Rs 4000/= each while Koito Thai Brand new is Rs 2000/= each.

Koito Japan used head lamp is Rs 8000/= each while Koito Thai Brand new is Rs 6000/= each.

Other than the engraving indicating Koito Japan/Thai they both looks similar and the finishing also very smart unlike the fake Chinese duplicates which are known to cause troubles when fixing to the vehicles due to bad quality plastic clips and all.

Are there any difference between the quality of these two products? Or are they just manufactured in two country by the koito?

I think they are manufactured by Koito in Thailand. There might be a slight quality difference but I don't think you will notice it in your life time because of the type of product it is (a light). I might have advised differently if it was a moving part subject to wear and tear but on this occasion its probably safe to buy the brand new ones as long as they are from a reputable source.

To be honest both these should be sold at a minimum at the same price. You can't justify a used part at a higher price as brand new when it is manufactured by the same company irrespective of where it is.

This may not be the case always..

Just like it applies to tyres ( eg: a set of Goodyear made in Germany will be much more expansive than that made in Thailand ), there could be a price difference. Most of this is due to the labour cost, FX rate, freight being different, but the technology used is almost the same. Thai ones might possibly be better as the production plants are newer.

As I said it does not always apply to goods that suffer wear and tare. This is mostly down to raw material and processing of raw material as local plants tend to use local suppliers.

Also Cabron B4 we were comparing a second hand good to a brand new good, not like for like brand new Japanese vs brand new Thai. In that scenario the price difference can't be justified.
