What Should Consider When Renewing The Insurance??

'ColomboRox',

Can you inform the existing insurance cover, what are the conditions and clauses, you have insured.

Without knowing it is very difficult any one to advice you to consider additional things to cover by the insurance company.

I agree to your post but what about the windshield cover if the vehicle meets with an accident then car carrier charges.

Third party damage is limited now if any accident happens on EO1 road damage charges insurance company pays only fraction of the cost to the RDA estimate.

Considering the above facts we have to cover all above. Premium will be little more.

I did not have the car carrier cover so I had to pay rupees 12000.00 once to carry a vehicle from mathara to Colombo.

Dont trust agents.. There was this fellow in Sri Lankan Insurance who ripped people off with their insurance premium and provided them with fake documents, I known coz i was 1na them victims. Finally no premium nothing and the insurance company wants me to keep the vehical at home until the case is settled. So i had to open a new cover last december. The case is still going on.

End of the day...it's value for money Sylvi.

How much one is willing to dish out for a set of services.

There isn't a cheap product out there that covers everything. More covers you want, more it's gonna cost ya.

I have got all the covers my insurer offered at the time. Windscreen cover is a must for me cos the vehicle is parked closed to the colombo golf club quite often.

Once my windscreen went bust while parked there....oddly enough, thanks to a jack fruit and not a golf ball :D

You are perfectly correct once I had a agent with Celinco Insurance he used to come home and collect Cheques. The premium can be paid in three installments.

Once I had a claim for land insurance cover I had insured all equipment on the land. I lost one water pump than I made my claim to the company with a copy of the police report (Insurance agent) had not paid the third installment.

Insurance refused to pay my claim I made a complain against the agent. With all cheque numbers. then the agent came running to my home and paid the cost of the water pump and paid the part payment what was due too. I think branch managers and other officers in the branches are all in the game.

The corrupt agent requested not to proceed with the matter He will loose the job.

Even Bank drafts they pay other peoples part payments and they enjoy our money

Agents collect money and pay other peoples part payments without settling our policy money.

Always better to pay to the head office at the cashiers counter.

I agree with Ripper, at the end of the day its value for money. I have got quotes that vary between 30k to nearly 50k. Work out what's best for you and go for it. Obviously use your noodle and go for someone with a good track record too.

If you bank with a certain 'Local' bank, they offer pretty decent deals on Insurance premiums. They also have special offers from one of them that sponsor the (what I like to call) (the present day) Silver Arrows.

Wait! Does that mean a usual full option insurance doesn't cover the windshield in case of an accident ? :sad-smiley-058:

I have always insured with V*P, and luckily went through a couple of cars within a year and got in to their VVIP category. So far, I have received a good service. I guess it all comes down to the service agent you deal with and relationship you establish with him. I am able to get most things done without much sweat.

Yes, you can transfer full insurance cover from your previous car to your new car. I had my insurance with 6 years no claim bonus (about 40% of the premium) with c******o for my previous car. c******o told me that I can transfer it to my new car within 3 years. j********i told me that if I get a letter or quotation showing my no claim bonus from Celinco ,they will also give the same discount.
