osrdesilva

Question

Hi all,

I bought a old trad sunny(1986 model) recently. This is my first vehicle and i have to faced a problem with it. The problem is engine vibrating badly and off when engine slow down in the trafic. Therefore have to keep accelerate while in the traffic also. That was checked by a mechanic in two times. Changed the petrol filter and air filter. But problem is as same. Please help me.

Assuming that its a carb model, what you will need to do is check you plugs, plug leads, the distributor and get your carb checked, cleaned and tuned,

But do the simple stuff first like the plugs, and plug leads and the distributor. Carb clean and tune should be done as last resort.

Hi,

The problem is engine vibrating badly,

engine slow down in the trafic,

As stated by vvti start from a simple things like plugs , plug wires , tune up & check the status. if youre using a/c check your ac idle up unit as well. your enine might be vibrating due to the same reason & check for the engine mounts as well.

btw where do u live ?

Good Day !

First of all thanx all of you for qiuck reply. Im @ kalutara. As you told i cleaned the plugs, plug wires and carb too. Previous owner was not run the vehicle for long time. So i cleaned the petrol tank also. My mechanic say, it will be ok when i use it few days and asked to start and keep accelerate the vehihle for few minits before drive. That problem is somewaht ok. but not totally.

Thanx.

When a car has not been run for a little while it tends to have problems like this for a little while :) Basically its a combination of corrosion and degradation of various material causing things like actuators to get stuck partially blocked etc etc. Can you also say if you have the AC on when this vibration happens and whether turning the AC off helps at all.
