You can import and simply there's no restriction to GPS or realtime GPS trackers. but I don't know witch model you telling. Some use GSM or HSPA to transmit whereabouts to local pc or pda some use sat link as well as gps to transmit cordinates to reciever. 2nd type isn't cheap.

I have one installed on my car. in fact it is GSM/GPS tracker. When I need to track, I call the unit and unit send me text message with current position lat. and Lon. I can then look at the position on google map. It works very well and has lot of other options I do not use much.

Anyway it is not the type that can stop car. just tracking device.

If I remember corectly, cost me around Rs10000 from china.

Unless it is drugs and weapons, and you know how 99.9% of customs officers operate :) , importing is not much of issue.

If you already have a security system, something that people have done is hide an old phone that can run a certain GPS application and hook up a charger to a battery feed. They use a prepaid plan. Logging onto the website will show you real time data on your account and keep track of everywhere it's been.

I have one installed bought on eBay for about 55USD. , Google for TK103 GSM/GPRS vehicle tracker.

Its hardwired to vehicles power and even has the ability to kill the fuel and electricals just by sending an SMS indicating the password and command to the device. It sends its GPS location when I call it from a pre-authorised telephone number. With little trouble , you can even setup the real time map software on a PC which comes with it. Very useful stuff,

There's a place called D*a*o* M*r* at Mirihana junction next to the filling station. They install GPS tracking devices. I purchased a navigation system from them and their after sales service is quite good.

thanks rover

Hi,

SALA GIS ### is providing this service. Normally the devices will cost you around 20,000-22,000 and you need to pay 900/= per month for realtime tracking. They used thire own map which will give real street names. That is the same map used in GPS navigatiion.

Reasanty, I met one promotion person from Etisalat giving the same service but initial device cost is around 40,000/= but only 250/= per month for service.

I've installed in under the instrument panel , because , most of the required wires are reachable from there. System comes with wiring diagram and instructions, if you know your vehicle well, should not take more than 30 mins to install and test.

It is not possible to identify it once covers are placed. GMS/GPS antennas can be hidden under dash board.
