I dunno about you guys, but both mine clearly says Octane 91-98 on the fuel cap... so I have no issues with either of the fuels we have in SL. I mostly pump 90 and so far never had an issue with crrr or brrr or prrrr noises... :)

I once tried LIOC extra premium in the E39 and heard some pinging. Decided to stick to 95 octane :-)

jdnet

only i can tell for this time being is, i used to pump 90 OCT petrol for my mazda (this is my second mazda) and this happened only from last couple of weeks.

Has your wife been eatiing any food that creates gas in the last couple of weeks? Also If you get any wierd smellss, it's not from the exterior of the car. It happens to everyone. Don't worry.

Here the 95 is not exactly 95 and the 90 also could be less, and if it says 91 and above why go with 90 ? .... although there is no noise or knocking the engine should perform at its best on 95.

why you want to save a few rupees.... ? :)

Look, both my cars are 15 years, who knows what was pumped before. Besides, I have other things to worry about other than the octane value of the fuel that goes in my car.

You are the bean counter machang... you tell me the importance of saving a few rupees here and there. Why don't you do us a chart and put it up.

Hi ashan82

Yes,, i get what you mean machan,,, forget getting support, how about getting a time to show him the car.. :) reason i see about that is, he is very dedicated when he is working on a vehicle.. i've seen that when i visited his place. Sometimes his father comes and shouts at him to at least have breakfast and thats around 2 pm.. considering the number of vehicles parked at that place, i think we should cut the guy some slack.. :)

Since we both visit the guy, we must have seen each other as well.. :)

No expert,... but it could be that your knock sensor is malfunctioning and its unable to retard the timing for the lower octane fuel... ?

Get it checked....

Yes...you should always judge your mechanic by what time of the day he has his breakfast.

Look, if a mechanic, no matter how good he is does not help you out in an emergency or does not take the time to look at your propblem and pay some attention is a bad mechanic. It does not mean that he is good, it's that he has no competition nearby and the customers are idiots.

Hi jdnet & VVTi

I didn't say or implied that you should judge a mechanic considering the time he is having breakfast. I only wanted to point out the fact that he is dedicated at what he is doing and if you meet the guy, he sure takes his time to look at your problem.

And VVTi you are right about he is not having any competition as there are not much of garages around our area that could provide a reliable service as per my understanding.

About his customers being idiots, that machan i really dont know.. maybe there's a segment of people who are satisfied with the service he provides & trust him with their vehicles..And that number is bit high machan.. Thats being their choice, its not any ones duty to judge it rite??

Kind regards..

p.s jd now dont go and call me retard ok... :)
