Diesel Car Starting Issue When Cold .

chan5

Question

friends.

I've a a toyota diesel wagon with

2C-turbo engine.

It resist to start in the morning'-

overhauled the engine before 20k kms and working fine.

Checked the battery and it's working fine.

Glow plugs working fine and heating indicator goes off within one second of heating.

Can start by pumping the manual diesel pump on fuel filter.

then It starts with minor vibration and runs smooth after 10seconds.

Now the issue happens with 4 /3 hour stopping.

What could be the possible reason for this ?

Fuel flows back to the tank for sure. Check the diesel filter housing (hand pump) and fuel lines. Usual culprit is the hand pump. If there's a unit where you can fix and check, will be the best to isolate issue

yep...return valve is malfunctioning making the filter run dry.... most shops these days have a malaysian/thaiwan made handpumps for sale for around 2k. easy fix.

i'd go for the used jap one... did the same for my truck.

yes pal,

my mechanic insist on used JAP .

Have to wait till tuesday since i'm busy all coming days.

Until then i'm going to use manual method in morning starts.

Think that doesn't do any harm to other components in the fuel system right?

you might want to first give the hand primer a good air down sometimes debris gets stuck in your return valve which causes this problem if it doest go just replace with the jap since its only 4k and we are talking about your car not your gf the expenditure is justifiable

thanks macho.

Anyway did that as well and it didn't work.

filter was also good.

On my way i saw a shop near wattala , got a used japanese hand pump,

it's a simple fix,

worked fine today morning'.

And most of shops have that taiwan /malaysian head part.

Around 2k with 6 months replace warrenty.

Thanks everybody :) :)
