If you are planning to do a quick buy-and-sell job with that, I have my doubts about its ease of selling. 600k is a reasonable price for someone whos willing to keep it for a while. Don't know which government organization keeps its 16 year old cars in 'good condition' though!

Does this government organization going to sell it to you directly? As per procedures they cannot do it that way. They need to auction it in public. You may get in to trouble if they are going around the law.

Generally when government organizations auction their vehicles the condition is not very good.

They cant sell it directly. They have tender procedure.

And this is semi government organisation and they are maintaining their vehicles properly.

since it's a volo , most probably it must have been used by an executive level person with a driver.

So probably have maintained it well.

Since it's an old car, chances are high that you might have to attain some repair.including the fact that it's a volvo. Keep some reasonable reserve. Will say some 200-300k in case .

Check for vital points with competent mechanic.don't just jump and buy a lemon assuming it's damn cheap.usually very few people have enough balls to buy a 15 years euro.

So salute on that.

All the very best.

Sounds like a great deal for 600k. It's a lot of car for the money. It's spacious and very comfy. If it's in good shape and you want to use it for a while then go ahead. Find a Volvo specialist and see that parts are available and things should be ok.

What usually happens is the good cars are used by senior executives for a few years (maybe 5) and then passed on to the car pool. That's when the raping begins. Maybe this organization is an exception.

Thanks... Car is previously used by two ministries and then transfer to this organization. And it maintained by agents. Some interior parts are damaged such as Power shutter buttons and Gear knob. And my mechanic said need to replace brake pump. Except these things car is in good condition. so is it worth 6laks ???

Yes. I think it is a great price if only those need replacement. What else can you buy for 600k these days?

EXACTLY, it's worth if "IT HAS ONLY THOSE REPAIRS"..

If it's me , i'll keep another 300k or around for possible repairs since i'm so suspicious about the price tag given.

And correctly,

you what you can buy for 600k?

Even a new three wheeler is around 500k i heard. :) :)

my two cents:

600k is not the market value of the vehicle... It's what this guy's getting THIS car at. It maybe a great car he's getting through some connection or by pulling some strings.. So we cant say its a 'poorly maintained vehicle' or that it will need a bunch of repairs based purely on the price. In this kinda situation you really cant judge it unless you see the car yourself. So its upto the OP to decide on his own. His mechanic's input is probably more valuable in this case than the rest of us who are judging purely by the few facts and figures the OP gave.

It's quite amazing how low you could buy Euro cars because most others are scared of them. I once bought a one owner company director used Opel Omega for 560k. Absolute minter. Loved it and while I was using it got an offer for 680k a couple of months later and sold it. Regretted it as it was a great drivers car and what a lot of car for the money? I then bought a Peugeot 605 another minter one owner car. Got it for 650k. Awful to drive after the Omega sold it for 890k!!!

First thing is i think 6laks is good price for this kind of car. Even you can't get trad sunny for this price these days. And i like Euros. I'm not planning to use this as a daily drive. So I don't consider much about fuel wastage. so i'm not scare to buy this thing. :)
