Just five weeks after news broke that Toyota was recalling over 7m cars due to a window switch failure, another recall has been announced by the Japanese car manufacturer.

This time, 2.7 million cars including the Corolla and the Prius hybrid will be recalled as a result of steering wheel and water pump problems.

No accidents due to the steering wheel fault have so far been reported but, according to the BBC, a Toyota spokesman has admitted that the problem could, in time, “result in a loss of steering ability”.
