Noise When Changing P To D - Suzuki Swift Ht51S

Hi

I'm using Suzuki swift 2004 HT51S , I experience this issue ....

* Drive few meters stop on a slope , turn to "P" release the break ( car moves forward and stop )

When I'm trying to shift to "D" big noise hearing from the engine side ,

* Drive few meters stop the car , turn to "P" , without taking the foot off from the break , turn back to D

Then im not hearing the sound

> Recently I did a ATF Change

My be my explanation not clear , Please question me and help me to solve this issue .. :) :)

No no it's clear enough.

That's normal.

Your atf change was a waste of money and whoever advised you to do it should be shot.

Use your handbrake also on a slope. Engage drive and then release handbrake. You won't hear any noise, if its bothering you.

There is a lock on auto gear boxes which acts as a brake when the gb is in P position. When you park the vehicle on a slope without handbrake, the weight towards the slope of the entire vehicle bares by the gb(by the said lock). With that weight, when you shift off the lever from P position, it gives the noice.

As Komi explained, if you use the handbrake too when you park the vehicle, this will solve the matter. Also if you footbrake before shifting off from P & then release footbrake, it will not give any weight to the gb & it is the better way than just shifting into D without handbrake or footbrake.
