Fuel tank opening side (left side or right side)

I came to know this by an e-mail received recently. (I summerized it as below). I am not sure it is correct in every time, but mine it is correct and left side directed by an arrow.

My FB15 dash board has the icon you have posted in right side and fuel tank opening is in left side. It has a logic that you can park the car right to the pump and get it pumped.

It's true with the arrow

it indicates the side of the tank
