Suzuki Swift (Beetle) Indian Vs Japanese

Question

Posted

Hi guys,

Do any of you know the differences between a swift indian model and a japanese one with manual transmission, when it comes to fuel economy, driving pleasure....etc?

there are rumors that the indian version is better on fuel than its japanese counterpart, so im hoping to get more info on this.

It would be great to get your opinion on this

Much thanks!!!

In Indian Model there are 2 Models. VXI & ZXI( which has ABS/ Alloy Wheels/ Touch A/C etc). VXI is a cheap model with No ABS/ No Alloys/ Black coloured door handles & Side Mirrors. Try to buy the Japanese one it has more options, and you can buy an Automatic Car which has more demand.

One of my mates had a brand new indian swift ( imported by a*w). He decided to add seat covers and when the rear seat was removed he noticed under the seat there was a huge patch of rust! Guess he claimed warrenty. If you can I guess you should go for a jap swift ( just my 2 cents. )

Japanese swift is always better. If you want better FC, go for a manual. And its fun to drive too.

  • Indian swift will have a vxi or zxi badge on the boot lid

Indian swift has higher ground clearence, so different suspension

Indian swift has a Maruti K series Engine

AFAIK indian swift only has a clock where on the japanese swift has the fuel economy read outs and everything

in other words the indian swift has a smaller display on the dashboard.

Quickest way to identify the two swifts: Maruti Swift has the antenna in front. Suzuki Swift has the antenna in the rear.

Also Suzuki swift comes with a VVT engine. Maruti swift doesn't

And finally, Maruti Swift will start corroding after few years.

My former 2007 (ZC71S) 1250cc (K12B) CVT used to do 10 kmpl Colombo and around 12-14 outstation.

There is huge quality difrence and ofcause the price between the two.

K12B is free reviving gem of an engine and the CVT gear box did not do justice to it.

If you manage to find a manual it will be nice little drivers car.
