Need Advice On Importing Baby Monitoring System Through Ebay, Do We Need To Get Any Approval?

Hi All,

I am just about to pay through ebay to import baby monitoring system with below spec but not sure will I face problems or extra amounts to be paid to customs seperatly? Anyone have any experience before on the procedure? Please share .

If you are lucky it will be delivered to your door step and no questions asked. But the official position of both Customs and TRCSL is that you need an approval from the regulator for a frequency transmitting device. Refer to http://spectrum.trc.gov.lk/Low%20Power/spectrum%20allocantion1.pdf for details of what you will have to go through if Customs decides to refer the matter to TRCSL. If the unit is available locally then someone must have got it approved and you would not have much of a problem clearing it unless the Customs make a fuss.

You can visit TRC, on elvitigala mw, and show them the spec and brouchure and ask them. Very helpful guys there, at least when I was doing business with them.

Thanks for the advices, Once I checked the spectrum details it fall between some of given values and have to pay around 1000Rs as fixed charges. So better I would clarify with TRC and get it sorted while the device on the way.

I just collected mine yesterday all i did was send it to a family friend flying down from Uk and she carried it without ever been questioned by anyone.
