Question

Posted

Today evening I broke one wheel stud of the front wheel while trying to change a wheel.

I won't be able to visit the garage tomorrow to fix it.

Is it safe to drive around with 3 lug nuts on in a front wheel drive hatchback, just for a couple of days?

There are people who drive days/weeks with one loose/missing lug nut (which effectively is the same), and nothing goes wrong. I'm not saying live qith the car like that, but few days won't hurt as long as you take it easy on the potholes.

Thanks everyone for the advices.

Anyway I got it fixed yesterday evening. It was not that hard as I thought earlier.

I thought the entire hub assembly would have to be removed to put the new stud in. But I could do it just by removing the caliper.

It is even easier if it was the rear wheel (had to do that during a service as one rear stud got damaged)

Bought the bolt from a spare parts store; not much sure about the quality though...
