Mitsubishi Lancer 1992

Hi All,

I own a Mitsubishi Lancer GLX 1992. Mostly known as CB2A. I've read the threads of the problems with the type of carb that comes with this model and i experience the same issues right now. My questions are,

  1. Is the CB2A model good to have?
  2. Any alternative carb that fits in to this with minor modifications?
  3. Can anyone help me to find the repair manual for whole car (Factory or Haynes)

I know there are lot of techies out there. So guys pls help me with this....

I had a 94 CB2A. It's a good and a reliable car if was maintained properly by previous ownes. Comfortable too. I'm not sure whether the carb can be modified or replaced but yes the carb was troublesome and hard to maintain the proper tune due to wear as it's of horizontal piston design.

@ OP,lot of cars in SL have bad carbs as our baas's tamper and try to do modification without any real knowledge,my advice for you is if the carb is faulty and cannot be repaired easily try to get a new carb as its cheaper on the long run than having less fuel efficiency and always going for tune-ups (im telling thisvia personal experience with faulty carbs on a Older Lancer some years ago)

Yes i totally agree with our SL Baas works! Recently i met a garage guy who does carb conversions. He said he can remove existing piston type carb and put a nissan doctor sunny carb that is more reliable and can control fuel consumption by adjusting jets. But for that he has to do some slight mods to the intake manifold. Any expert idea on this?

FB 13s have electric carbs as I know. So definitely it requires some mods. When I had the car some baas suggested me to replace with a toyota carb. Not sure if that's the wise choice though.
