Falken, Kumho Or Nankang

Hi there...

Please help me chose the brand from your experience. My main concern is tread wear with reasonable dry/wet performance. I have three options for 235/50/18. This is for a mid size SUV.

1. Falken Ziex ZE912 (Japan) at 28k per tyre - No experience.

2. Kumho Ecsta SPT (Korea) at 28k per tyre - Current tyres. Just above 40k mileage. A bit harsh (could be due to low profile).

3. Nankang AS-1 (Taiwan) at 24k per tyre - No experience.

I wanted to get a quote from Maxxis, but the Karagampitiya distributor thinks too big of himself.

Go for Falken... or a better tyre brand like bridgestone, michelin or pirelli

Might I throw another tire in to the fray and suggest the Michelin Primacy 3ST which i thought was very good.

They were an improvement on Bridgestone Dueller HT's

Came in at about 23k a piece from U&H on Malay Street

I used Falkens (admitedly not the Ziexes but Landairs) and thought they were ordinary, and like with most Falken's, treadwear seemed heavy...

I should have mentioned I'm looking to spend around 30k per tyre (need all four). Looking at my tyre size, I don't think the Michelins and other Euro/Jap brands will fit my budget.

Go for falken or bridgestone ecopia. both of them provide comfort driving plus increased fuel efficiency.
