Do Aqua Really Need 95 Octane Gas ?

Having a 1500 cc engine, do Aqua really need 95 Octane gas to be pumped (as many suggest).

Any expert to clarify please.

No you don't need 95 for Aqua. The engine is of Atkinson type which, by its design, has a low compression ratio and hence should work fine with octane 90 or even lower. In Japan they recommend "Regular" or 87 octane AFIK, although whether these numbers are comparable with those of ours is questionable.

Prius/Aqua engine compression ratio is about 8:1, so 92 octane is more than enough.
