Toyota Vitz 1.3 Spark Plug Replacement And Fuel Filter Replacement

Question

Posted

Hi,

I have a 2008 Toyota Vitz 1.3(SCP 90) which has done 91000kms. When I did the regular service recently, service station did a OBD2 sensor scan. They said that it indicates we need to do a engine tune up. I did my last tune up around 70000kms. Also they said I need replace spark plugs and the fuel filter. Also they said we need to replace plugs in 50000kms

I don’t abt the fuel filter. But as I heard we can do more than 100000kms with original plugs.

What is your opinion on this?

Thanks

The engine idling time is not calculated one the ODO meter.and 91000 kms means very close to end their life time.if its mileage is genuine. Itz time to change the plugs.& do a tuneup

Do u feel any difference?like misfiring?engine knocking?low performance?high fuel consumption?

How did the analysed the scan report data?or they just said that by just looking the mileage of the car?

I dont feel any differnece while driving. Also not a drastic reduction of fuel consmption.

Service guys did a OBD2 sensor scan. It indicates fault on,

PCM(Poertrain Control Module) and CCM(Cruise Control Module). By looking at that, they told about replacement.

Believe me, I have used Vitz 2007 1.0 car 110,000 km without doing any thing to the engine other than oil and oil & air filter replacement. No cleaning (so called tune up), no plug replacement, etc. 1.0 three cylinder engine is more prone to vibration than your car, but I had no such big issue too.

I think your car have no cruise control so how it give error code?

You may use iridium tip spark plugs (which you car is having) more than 100,000 km. There are enough safe margins (always more than 1.5 safety factor) when preparing service schedules. Therefore, no need to worry about idling time and no need to do anything before recommended time.
