Cut n paste your true results !

Here are my results below.. this is ADSL

Speed

62.2 kilobits per second

Communications 62.2 kilobits per second

Storage 7.6 kilobytes per second

Your results seem a bit lower than they should be? Are you on a shared network?

Im curious about ADSL speeds in the various regions in Colombo. I hear that people get different speeds in Kollupitiya, vs Nawala... and so on

Its not really the regions. ADSL speed can depend on the distance from the base station. If ur really close to the base station (or exchange), u get the closest to the advertised speed. The more wire from ur house to the base station, the lower the speed. I think it's to do with signal quality. That info should be on the web.

hey guys...

i go online ona LankaBELL CDMA... it says the connection speed is 230.4Kbps....

but when i run the test i get this message..

i ran it a couple of time... same outcome..

========================================

The speed result was too high or too low

The speed test will not accept results that are negative or too high for the indicated connection type. This test was not counted.

Possible causes

* Using "back" from the results page

* Using a favorite link or direct URL entry to the results page

* Incorrect connection type selected

* This test does not support connections above 8mbit/s

* Network error

Solutions

* Start tests from the test start page

* Select the correct connection type

* Make sure you meet the minimum requirements to use this test

we have ADSL at office and at times it is hella slow. you speed also depends on how many other connections there are. if ADSL is new to the area, then you connection willb e very good. the connections are all shared, so if you have more users, dialup will be faster :lol:

Im using 2Mb ADSL Line Over a Network System ( Wireless + Rj45 Wired ) so i tested all of my computers in the network using the speed tester, but i got various results

( Wireless through a Router --> Server ) ( Network Speed 108MBPS 2.4 GHZ 802.11 )

Communications 152.1 kilobits per second

Storage 18.6 kilobytes per second

1MB file download 55.2 seconds

Subjective rating Mediocre

Then i tested one of my cliant pc ( RJ45 through a Router --> Hub --> Cliant ) ( Network speed 100MBPS )

Communications 100.2 kilobits per second

Storage 12.2 kilobytes per second

1MB file download 1.4 minutes

Subjective rating Mediocre

so i notice almost 50 KB speed loss in the cliant computer, and thses speeds may change during time to time

But i think these internet controll softwares canot detect our Internet speeds cus they take all the Asian countries under one section , But if i check the router status i noticed downstreem is 2048KBPS, anyway there are proper internet speed detecting softwares to check the net speed.

But when i downloading some files i download 10MB within 2 or 3 minutes and some files take more than 10 minutes, and i think u cant check the downloading speeds it depends on the time of downloading, downloading server, performance of the modems, routers and finally our ISP's server banwidth.

So i tested my internet speed on the server around 12.30 and it confused me a lot

Communications 288.6 kilobits per second

Storage 35.2 kilobytes per second

1MB file download 29.1 seconds

Subjective rating Mediocre

Last Time 152.1 now 288.6 so it means now i got extra 136.5 kbps than the previous time i checked

OK, this result is a lot better. It shows 409k which is not bad considering this is a 512k connection:

409.6 kilobits per second

Communications 409.6 kilobits per second

Storage 50 kilobytes per second

1MB file download 20.5 seconds

Subjective rating Not bad

Hey - how about we do a poll to see who gets the best readings for SLT ADSL 512 and 2MBPS connections...
