I am having a Suzuki A-star. I had to replace the AC evaporator due to oil leakage & clogged by dust.so the technicians removed the dash board & some parts inside the bonnet. during the process of removing some hoses coolant came out . once after the replacement is done they refilled the coolant. but it is found that coolant is reducing although there is no leakage found under the car.what can be the cause for it.is it a problem with lid of the coolant chamber?

well . if it isnt dripping out and you are loosing coolant . its probably leaking through you heater unit inside the car . or leaking into the engine through a gasket . since this happened after an AC service maybe its the heater unit leaking inside the car .

There might be air in the cooling system. completely re bleed the engine and do a pressure test on it. if there's a leak, it will show.

If the heater was removed, it must be bleeded after refitting. Let the engine cool over night, start the engine next morning, turn onthe heater to Max with the engine idling and check and add coolant to the max point till full.

park the car under a few sheets of old news paper and leave it over night to check for any leaking/drips

TT.

Its unlikely that coolant is leaking in to the engine through a gasket as you didn't have a drop in the coolant level earlier and also because the technicians only messed with the hoses. If it somehow does, you should see white smoke from the exhaust when you start and "rev" the engine.

Its normal for the coolant to reduce to a certain amount after re-filling it completely, but that doesn't mean it should reduce drastically. Re-fill the overfill tank to the "MAX" labeled mark and then check whether the coolant still reduces after a day or two, if so you have a problem.

Start with the basics, there could be small leaks from the hoses that may not be visible under the car. After running the car for a while, open the bonnet and check the ends of the radiator hoses and on parts under the hoses (such as on top of the transmission). If you have traces, the hoses probably haven't been fixed properly.

You will have to drain the system completely and re-fix the hoses and tighten the hose clamps properly.

during the process of removing some hoses coolant came out .

Also if your so called technicians removed the hoses without draining the system first, its about time you find a new garage ;)

There is a coolant line coming to under the dash for the heater purpose where you need hot air from A/C when your are at Nuwaraeliya or somewhere cold.

That's the line you are referring, and it might be still leaking and that could be the reason to drop in coolant level.

Why you don't see the leak is that it drops in to the floor board and goes under the carpet where you don't have any visibility.

What I advice is before do anything else, visit an interior cleaning place or a carpeting place and raised your carpet under the dash up to front seats level and check for any remaining coolant underneath. If you don't see anything, run the vehicle for couple of days and check for coolant drops under the dash after each run (Coolant start leak when the car is hot and not in cold) and make sure you use a color coolant and not water unless you cannot differentiate it from A/C water drops.

Good luck
