Need buy an economical car between 1mil - 1.5 mil. Need your input

Hi I'm looking for a car that is between 1mil - 1.5 mil. My primary concerns are 

1. Fuel economy
2. Spare Part availability
3. Maintenance 
4. Resale value

Im buying my first car and bit a newbie. Car does not need to be a diesel car. Appreciate your suggestions on a reliable car.

Toyota Corsa Diesel GX-XXXX ,1997, AUTO, Full option, 1500cc (around 1.6 mil)  
Toyota Carina CT192 Diesel 65-XXXX, 2C engine, 1994, Manual (Around 1.5 mil)

I have my mind on the Corsa. What do you guys think?

Better to stay away from old diesels cos this is your first car.

Toyota corolla elephant back wagon, Mazda demio, Toyota AE 100, Nissan Y11 AD Wagon, Mazda Familia Butterfly are my options.

HI my dad had patrol corsa.. 1998 ...GV number

Pros.

1. Reliable car .very rarely gives you any trouble. 
2. Has reasonable level of  of options (of course considering the time it was released and price range )>>>> ABS, two airbags ,P/S, Power mirror (no winker mirrors though )

Cons

1. Our one was 1330 CC so pulling power was slightly lower but 1500cC one will be better.
2. The car is little ugly (subjective)

Please note that we used the car from 2006 to 2008 so that time car was only 8 years old so after another 8 years there might be more issues ...

SANCAR, Yatcar appreciate the info. Anyone have any experiance on a diesel corsa car?

I remembered a person had mentioned his bad experience about his diesel Corsa. Search the forum, you can get more details. If you still want a diesel car CT192 is better than Corsa. but it should be checked with a good mechanic.
