Low budget car

Hi all,

I am planning to buy my first car. 

My budget is below 1 Million. 

• I would prefer a car with fuel consumption of not less than 10 kmpl (City). 
• Petrol or Diesel (Need to know pros and cons)
• Should be a comfortable and less noisy car
• Parts availability matters
• Nice looking car

In addition I need more details about Daewoo and Opel cars.

Been using a Ford Laser (YOM 92) 1300 cc for the last 3 years and it s a good car with AC its 7-8 in Colombo and outstations 12-13 kmpl

The maintenance is easy and looks are ok too,but make sure you get a good car many have had their carbs messed up by local bass'unas

I think, Kia cars the best for you to buy with this budget.

When I had the same requirement, this is what I did.

• I didn't particularly look for a brand or model. Just focused on whatever appeared in autolanka classifieds and other classified websites
• Came across a few cars (as I recall, a starlet, Kia Rio, old Punto etc.) looked at the mechanical condition instead of brand name or model - spare parts are available for any car in this country, if you look around, you will find.
• Found a Mazda butterfly with a duplicate CR for about 200k less than the average market value of the same car with an original CR
• Bought it... used it... sold it for about 20k more than what I spent for it (for buying + repairs)
