CVT gearbox issues

Recommended Posts

Heard that fit CVT had some issues related to gear shifting and as that information i conceived that issue comes with CVT technology not with the brand and Toyota axio comes with CVT gear box but that model has not reported the same issue. Can anyone help me on that.

I am going to buy a car and I would prefer to buy Honda shuttle gp7 over axio x grade. Hope an advice from professional.

Although the drive in both hybrid systems are commonly known as CVTs, if we put them in the right perspective Honda CVT in fact is  i-DCD (Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive) and Toyota CVT is PSD (Power Split Device). These two are different technologies altogether and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Basically i-DCD gives you are better driving experience over PSD while PSD gives you better reliability over i-DCD. i-DCD uses a dual clutch system while PSD is designed to operate without a clutch. So the choice is yours based on the priorities and personal preferences. For me an Axio serves the purpose of my daily run to the office but I have a GP5 as well -again a daily runner.

Agents recommended to change the DCD oil (I think they referred to it when they said clutch oil) on my Vezel every 20000Km. They said manufacturers have recommended it for JDM vehicles in Sri Lanka.

The gp5 and vezel dual clutch gearboxes are starting to give trouble now.

Seems like some manufacturers are going back to autos, audi, Ford.

The Honda unit in general doesn't seem to be fairing well.

Our local driving style of creeping forward inch by inch and balancing on a hill with the accelerator certainly doesn't help.

Is there any issue in gp7 also?

Sounds like typical blah blah from the Agents to shrug off any responsibility. I doubt if the Engineers who design these vehicles ever consider the harsher Load and environment conditions in Sri lanka compared to japan as design parameters. They are under constant pressure to reduce costs, and therefore design the components so that they are just above these conditions of the typical market the car is intended for,and quite sure they do not consider our Grey recondition market.
