Fuel efficient car for 2.2/2.3 Mil

Hi All,

Im driving a Nissan FB15 (automatic)in Colombo and it only does around 8-9 kmpl in colombo traffic.

So,I'm looking at the options to go for more fuel efficient (With the fuel prices going up,this has become a crucial factor)car for 2.2/2.3 Mil price range.

(can only purchase registered (for 1 year ) vehicles due to government regulations on Loan to value ratio,therefore Japan alto is out of the window)

Preferably an automatic with low maintenance cost,

What are the options that i have ? Suzuki Swift-jeep model / Vitz 2002 / Celerio VXI OR Elite.

Here's a cold hard FACT.

Most petrol cars do around 8-9 kmpl in Colombo traffic. This includes the so-called highly fuel efficient Corolla 121s as well. Jeep model Swift does less than your FB15. 1300CC Vitz, Elite and Celery-o might do slightly better - around 10-12. But don't expect a drastic change in the fuel economy.
